Continue ReadingThe class of 2021 has an opportunity to be one of the deepest ones in recent years. There’s already a UCLA commit and two top 50 players including a top 10 national 5 star. The strength of this class, however, isn’t just at the top, it also includes several players throughout our rankings with the chance to become scholarship basketball players. In this article, PH takes a look at some players who could be big pickups for D2 and NAIA D1 programs.
Frank Bartley Frank Bartley 6'0" | PG Spring Valley | 2021 State NV 6’0 PG Spring Valley (#15) – Bartley is a dynamic tempo changing PG. He’s a tough hard-nosed competitor. Defensively he will take the challenge of any ballhandler, and offensively his lighting quick first step and exceptional R&J ability make him difficult to defend. You’re looking at the type of player that could go on to be an all-conference type performer at the right program.
Cort Ballinger Cort Ballinger 5'10" | PG Bishop Manogue | 2021 State NV 6’0 PG Bishop Manougue (#25) – You may be looking at a trend. Ballinger is another terrific on-ball defender. He’s even more dangerous because of his instincts and ability to disrupt passing lanes. The son of a coach, Ballingers low maintainance, high effort, high IQ play should be a turn on for many college coaches.
Lorenzo Abellar Lorenzo Abellar 5'8" | PG Liberty | 2021 State NV 5’8 PG Liberty (#14) (featured image) – The ultimate pitbull PG. If you have Abellar on your team, then you should expect your perimeter defense to be tight. While his strength is hawking the ball, the diminutive PG also can play the position from an offensive standpoint as well.
Isaac Wood Isaac Wood 6'2" | PG Galena | 2021 State NV 6’2 PG Galena (#27) – Recent film study, has provided me with ample time to evaluate Wood’s game. The guy is a magician with the basketball, possessing a tricky handle and above-average playmaking skills, especially off the dribble. There’s a place for him somewhere, good PG with the ability to both score and create.
Jackson Williams Jackson Williams 6'2" | SF Faith Lutheran | 2021 State NV 6’2 SG Faith Lutheran (#39) – I’m, urging coaches to take a look at Williams. What he does doesn’t always jump off the film, however, he understands how to play the game and has an impact in multiple areas. He’s an exceptional defender, that scores just enough that you can’t take him off the floor. I could truly see him being the type of player that turns into an all defensive type performer in the right program.
