Recruiting Report: Bobby Hill (2021)
Bobby Hill Bobby Hill 6'5" | PF Reservoir | 2021 State MD acclimated to his new school quickly and enjoyed a breakout season as a result. The 6-foot-6 forward, who recently transferred from DeMatha to Reservoir, was a very important player for the 19-5 Gators this season. A favorite to win Howard County Player of the Year, Hill was a walking double-double and a versatile two-way contributor for his team.
“It’s actually been an easy transition. I’ve been able to adapt,” Hill told Prep Hoops. “They accepted me with open arms. I feel like we’re a family which makes it easier.”
Like many who’ve spent time at DeMatha, Hill found it difficult to earn consistent minutes despite his talent. Ultimately, he decided that it was best to go somewhere he could get ample playing time. Reservoir turned out to be a perfect fit. Hill, a mid-range specialist who plays with a high motor, rebounds relentlessly and demonstrates a high basketball IQ, thrived as the fulcrum of his team’s offense and defensive centerpiece throughout the season.
“I feel like I’m a leader on this team,” he said. “I feel like I keep the engine going. I feel like if I don’t go, the team doesn’t go.”
Hill admitted that it took some time to get used to his new role. Sometimes he can get quiet or lack aggression, but his coaches and teammates have pushed him and helped him blossom into the leader he is today. Recruitment continues to trend up for Hill, who says he’s receiving interest from the likes of Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, and Howard. Expect many more schools to get involved this summer.
“I’m just looking for a family,” Hill said when considering which school he would like to attend. “Someone who will accept me. Somewhere I can work hard at and improve to be the best.”
