Central went 2-0 against East in the first two meetings, but in the third round, the Spartans were not going to get knocked down without a fight. BE pushed the Lancers to their limits. Every time it looked like the defending state champs were safe, East came back with a run. In the end, though, BC was just too good. Central dominated the second overtime en route to a 76-66 victory.
Here are five prospect standouts from Thursday’s battle:
David Joplin David Joplin 6'8" | SF Brookfield | 2021 State #54 Nation WI — Brookfield Central — SF
If you were wondering why Joplin’s recruitment has been picking up steam recently, look to Thursday’s game for the reason why. Joplin was the best prospect on the court and there was really no question about it. The junior small forward was too big, too strong, and too good for Brookfield East to handle. When Central was struggling, it looked for Joplin to pick up the slack. He was tremendous all game, but the SF stepped up his game when it mattered most. He converted on a critical and-one in double-OT that eventually pushed the Lancers to victory.
Hayden Doyle Hayden Doyle 6'0" | CG Brookfield East | 2021 State WI — Brookfield East — SG
Doyle would refuse to let Brookfield East loose. The 5-foot-11 shooting guard hit big shots, played defense, and showed a lot of grit. He wasn’t a top scoring option on Wisconsin Playground Club during the AAU season, but he morphed into BE’s go-to option this season. Doyle doesn’t have all the measurables of his counterparts, but he still gets the job done.
Bottom line: Doyle can play the game at a high level and he should be getting looks from a lot of college programs.
Eric Radisevic Eric Radisevic 6'8" | PF Brookfield Central | 2020 State WI — Brookfield Central — PF
Radisevic was key for Central in the victory. The power forward exposed East’s lack of size and dominated in the paint. Radisevic is another prospect that colleges need to keep tabs on. He has great footwork in the post, but he is also able to step outside and make shots. Radisevic scored 20 points in the win.
Nick Pluemer — Brookfield East — G
Pluemer’s gritty effort mitigated Brookfield East’s poor shooting night. The senior guard displayed great toughness along with a will to win. He didn’t put up a ton of points, but he was great on defense. Plumer’s play on Thursday embodied what the BE basketball program is all about.
Andrew Rohde Andrew Rohde 6'6" | SG Brookfield Central | 2022 State WI — Brookfield Central — SG
Rohde’s five points in the first OT kept the Lancers in this game. When all of the momentum belonged to the BE sideline, the sophomore shooting guard stepped up and provided his squad with a much-needed scoring boost. Expect Rohde to play a big role for Central next year as a junior.
