Tiler Fears, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound combo guard may be one of the next players to play at the next level. The versatile senior has proven that he is capable of playing at a high level helping the bulldogs win back to back Sierra Foothill League Conference Championships.
“As a team, I think we played well. We beat some strong teams at the beginning of the season which led to us playing pretty strong in league. We ended up being co-league champions after winning it last year as well which was great. I think we were all just playing with a chip on our shoulder all season”, said Fears.
Fears is a well developed and improved player who is also a proven winner. The senior displayed an immense amount of leadership. Fears have been an instrumental key for the Bulldogs all season long and everyone took notice.
“I feel like I had a different role compared to last year. Last year, we were a very experienced team so I was really just being a sponge and do whatever the team needed to win games. This year I really had to step up and become that leader to show the younger guys what this program expects”, said Fears.
Tiler is a high IQ player who gets it done on both ends of the court. The hard work of the senior has continued to pay dividend as he consistently does the little things to become a better player. Fears earned first-team all-league honors.
“I continued to challenge myself all season, especially on the defensive end, picking up the opposing team’s best player and shutting them down. Offensively, I was more aggressive and got to the free-throw line more while being more efficient from the three-point line”.
Tiler is a true definition of a student-athlete. The senior is currently holding a 4.0 GPA. As his senior year recently came to a close, colleges have displayed an interest in the lengthy guard.
“I’ve been talking to San Francisco State a lot but I’ve also talked to Menlo and Chico State. I took a visit to San Francisco State twice already but I’m playing weighing everything out and waiting for an opportunity”, said Fears.
Fears is a player who demonstrates a great amount of potential that can succeed at the collegiate level. Fears withhold a work ethic that is always asking for more and never complacent which will help him excel at the next level.
