The Prep Hoops Circuit is just around the corner! It is time for us to start previewing the teams participating in the circuit!
We caught up with Van Williams of Team PE 34 to discuss their upcoming season! Check out what he had to say!
The History: We have existed since 2006, starting as a youth, advanced YMCA league team named River City Hoops. We grew to play MAYB tournaments, AAU tournaments and expanded into multiple teams based on parent’s request. In 2019, we partnered with KU great Perry Ellis to co-brand as Team PE 34. We have an apparel contract with Adidas. We have a partner strength and conditioning facility, Omnicut Motivational Fitness, where our player’s workout. We offer highlight video, HUDL and recruiting assistance services.
2020 Goals: Our goal is to develop student-athletes and teach them life-skills that can serve their goals beyond basketball. Those life-skills include competing, relationship-building, managing adversity and success, with basketball being a hook to attract them.
The Mission: To serve and mentor youth on and off the court while competing at our highest level possible.
Why Prep Hoops: We were looking for consistency, good communication and a platform that promoted players in multiple ways.
Team Strengths: We have skilled and strong perimeter players, who want to produce at three levels, share the ball and guard hard and smart and together.
Players to Watch:
Circuit Schedule: About 9-10 Prep Hoops tournaments, a few MAYB nationals, and we host our own PE 34 Tournament in Wichita, KS, a highly successful event.
