Continue ReadingHistory: Head Coach and Director Mason Biddle created the San Diego Academy as a spinoff of the San Diego Bulldogs powerhouse program. “We’re kind of venturing out and getting unmarked territory” We wanted to bring a higher level club team to the Poway area and spread our knowledge of the game while doing so, we remind our players all the time of the big picture.” “Our program goal in 2020 is to continue to grow!” “We want to continue to bring more kids into the program and keep them until they go off to high school.” “We have always done 2nd-8th grade and this will be our first season having a 15u team.” SDA currently has 6 teams and looks to have between 6 to 8 teams competing this spring.

What’s the one thing you want people to know about San Diego Academy?
“We always play with a chip on our shoulder.” “We may not always be the biggest or most athletic but I want our high school and younger kids to understand that there are many different ways to affect the game of basketball.” -MB
What tournaments are you guys playing outside of the circuit?
Some of the tournaments SDA will be participating in include, the Compton Magic Memorial Day Tournament, and Bigfoot Hoops in Las Vegas.
Players to Watch:
Jack Leininger 5’10 PG Del Norte 2023 – Leininger was one the best players on a freshmen team that went 27-1. “He’s a great shooter and his pace is really good up the floor” “He’s really good out of the Pick and Roll, makes reads well and doesn’t force things.” “Smart basketball player and good defender too.” MB
Armaan Damani 5’9 PG 2024 – Damani is an athletic high IQ slasher. “He can handle the ball, is a good passer and can go by anybody” A playmaking PG described by coach Biddle as a “Gym Rat” “He’s in the gym 24/7.” -MB
Sleeper
Ron Jay Torres 5’10 PG 2023 – “He is extremely aggressive going to the basket and in transition.” “Crafty lefty.” “He’s one of those guys that could have a breakout game, and open some eyes just off his pure athleticism.”
