Nelson went berserk as a senior, averaging 24 points, 18 rebounds and nearly six blocks per game despite being the one guy teams geared up to slow down. He was dominant on both ends of the floor and carried a Firebirds team that otherwise might’ve finished at the bottom of the EDC to the state tournament.
First Team
Cam Van Dam, Fargo Davies
One of the best two-way players in the league, Van Dam is a super utility forward and the leader of a Fargo Davies team that had a legitimate shot at winning a state title. The 6-foot-7 senior averaged nearly 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists while showcasing elite multi positional defense.
Blake Berg, West Fargo Sheyenne
Berg was a force for the Mustangs all season, averaging 15.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists while leading the team in steals and shooting better than 50 percent from the field. He was one of the best defenders in the league and his ability to dominate the game on both ends of the floor with his athleticism and force set the tone for a team that reached the semifinals and looked like a state title favorite.
Tyler Terhark, West Fargo Sheyenne
Terhark stuffed the stat sheet in a big way for the Mustangs, averaging 13.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 55 percent from the field. His ability to defend just about anybody, make plays for himself and set up his teammates made the Mustangs a viable state title contender.
Brady Dvorak, Grand Forks Red River
Dvorak was arguably the best point guard in the EDC as a senior, averaging 14.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists while supplying top-notch defense. In a year where the Roughriders dealt with some injuries and challenges, Dvorak was the key cog in keeping them among the best teams in the EDC.
Second Team
Cayden Rickard, Fargo North
Rickard didn’t have a great shooting year but some of that can be attributed to the amount of responsibility he had a shot-creator and primary ball-handler. The senior lead guard averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists, helping the Spartans right the ship and remain competitive after a rough start.
Grayson Haman, Fargo Davies
One of the best two-way guards in the state, Haman had a rock-solid senior year, averaging 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists. He shot 37 percent from the 3-point line and set the tone on both ends of the floor with his motor.
Zion Dettman, West Fargo Sheyenne
Dettmann had a terrific senior season, averaging 14 points and 3.4 assists – and was surging late in the year as a go-to scorer. He knocked down 33 percent of his 3-pointers on almost seven attempts per game and was excellent on the defensive end of the floor.
Cole Hage, Fargo Davies
Hage finished up his high school career with a reminder that he was capable of putting up monster numbers when it was required of him. For the year, the 6-foot-3 swingman averaged 11.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
Matt Miller, West Fargo
Miller rebounded from a slow start to the season to finish with excellent numbers. The senior point guard led the team in scoring, averaging 14.4 points while hitting 39 percent of his 3-pointers. He led the team in assists as well.
Third Team
Ty Satter, Fargo Davies
Satter had some monster games for the Eagles and was one of the best two-way guards in the EDC. The senior wing averaged 12.8 points while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range.
Tallon Hoffer, Fargo Shanley
Hoffer’s scoring numbers dipped a senior to 13.6 points in the regular season, but his impact on the game was still high as he was responsible for driving the Deacons’ offense all season. Hoffer turned it on in a big way in the EDC Tournament, leading Shanley to the state tournament.
Hunter Lyman, West Fargo
Lyman averaged a double-double on the season, putting up 12.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-8 senior big man got to the free throw line five times per game and was one of the best offensive rebounders in the league.
Mason Gravseth, Grand Forks Central
A catalyst in the Knights’ surprise season, Gravseth emerged as one of the top bigs in the EDC this past season. The junior forward makes up for his lack of height with a hot motor and excellent quickness and athleticism inside. Gravseth averaged 11.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Cole Benson, Grand Forks Red River
Benson turned in a very nice senior year, averaging 11 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line. Benson stepped up and provided consistent scoring for a team missing one of its top scorers for large chunks of the season while maintaining top-notch defense.
Honorable Mention
Owen Hekner, Fargo Davies
One of the best pure shooters in the EDC, Hekner took strides in his overall game over the course of the year, finished up averaging 10.9 points and 4.9 rebounds. He shot 44 percent from the 3-point line and led the team in steals.
Tyler Tollefson, Wahpeton
One of the best shooters in the EDC, Tollefson averaged 13.6 points per game while knocking down 41 percent of his 3-point field goal attempts (6 attempts per game).
Jacksen Moni, West Fargo Sheyenne
Moni averaged 11 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as a junior. He showed a lot of improvement throughout the season on the defensive end of the floor and as competitor on the glass.
Kevin Hardy, Fargo South
It was a rough year for the Bruins but Hardy was undoubtedly a bright spot. The 6-foot-4 senior forward averaged 11.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, providing consistent production inside.
Bryce Enerson, Grand Forks Red River
One of the most consistent interior players in the EDC, Enerson averaged 11.9 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 54 percent from the field. Despite lacking elite height, he was an anchor for one of the best defensive teams in the league.
