Playoff Upshot: Jack Yates vs LaMarque
This was a third-round playoff matchup between Houston Jack Yates and LaMarque. The winner of this game would advance to the Sweet 16.
LaMarque came in the game very confident not schooled like most teams who have to play the Jack Yates Lions. The Lions were their usual self during the game but everyone was playing a little bit more chippy than normal. Yates has 25 turnovers in the game but forced LaMarque to turn the ball over 45 times in the game. Yates keeps their national streak alive of 100 point games. They have now pushed it to 21 straights games of scoring 100 plus this season. Yates had a total of 12 dunks in the game. Their full-court press that they run from tip-off until the final buzzer of the game is tough to break with all the athletes they have on the floor.

Antwon Norman Antwon Norman 6'1" | SG Houston Yates | 2020 State TX 6’1 SG | 2020 | Yates PHTX200
Antwon was bullying his way to the basket in the game. He also had some tough finishes at the rim and threw down a couple of dunks in the game. He also knocked down some deep ball shots. He was a menace on the defensive side of the ball as well. He is a very strong guard. College coaches get your eyes on him ASAP. Finished the game with 26 points.
Rubin Jones Rubin Jones 6'4" | SG Houston Yates | 2020 State #379 Nation TX 6’4 CG | 2020 | Yates PHTX200 [North Texas]
The North Texas signee had one of the nastiest putback jams that had the gym rocking and put his stamp on the game early on. I’ve never seen him so vocal and show so much emotion which he hardly ever does. He is starting to make a statement and control every aspect of the game. He knocked down trey balls and showed off his athletic ability by pinning a layup against the backboard. Finished the game with 19 points.
Elijah Elliot Elijah Elliot 5'11" | PG Jack Yates | 2020 State TX 6’0 PG | 2020 | Yates PHTX200
Another hot 2020 prospect that is full on the board. Has been in his bag. High skill set with a great motor. Good lateral movement defensively and quick active hands. He has the ability to create for himself and others. Very vocal on the court and is a leader that any college coach would love to have. High IQ guard who doesn’t back down from anyone and will guard your best player. Finished the game with 18 points.
Jordan Ivy-Curry Jordan Ivy-Curry 6'1" | PG LaMarque | 2020 State TX 6’1 PG | 2020 | LaMarque PHTX200 [Appalachian State]
Jordan got into foul trouble early on in the game. He stayed in the game despite having 4 fouls in the first half. He had his opponents on skates at times as he was able to break down the press all by himself on various occasions. This right-handed prospect had a left-handed dunk and was knocking down tough jumpers. Had a nice combo move and drained the trey ball and+1. He has recently verbally committed to Appalachian State University but still has his recruitment open. Finished the game with his season-low this year of 19 points and fouled in midway through the 3rdQtr.
Kevin Boone 6’6 F | 2021 | LaMarque
This Junior prospect has had some big games this season. He had to step up this game for his team in the second half in which he did. He is a long and athletic guy who can shoot the outside shot. I will be following up with this prospect throughout the Spring/a summer as he is playing with the Houston Raptors on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Finished the game with 16 points.
Edward Robinson 6’2 G | 2020 | LaMarque
Ed is another unsigned senior guard that could play collegiate ball for a program. He is athletic and has a good motor. He is an off-guard who plays like a slashing small-forward. He has a decent handle on the ball and can control an offense. Solid laterally on the defensive side of the ball. Finished the game with 12 points.
