MVP: Wing/Forward Ricky Council IV Ricky Council IV 6'5" | SG Southern Durham | 2020 State #362 Nation NC – Southern Durham
Council is one of the top unsigned seniors in the country that recently earned an offer from Wichita State. He’s a 6-foot-7 versatile prospect that produced as a scorer, rebounder and all-around athlete with his ability to make plays above the rim. He earned All-State honors from the NCBCA while earning first-team All-District honors as well. He holds offers from a solid number of DI programs under the current dead period, but wherever he ends up, he’s sure to make an impact right away.
1st Team
Guard Trey Crews – Hillside
Crews was the leader of a squad that went 20-6 on the year and 13-2 in the Triangle 8 Conference in their debut season in the conference. He’s a solid combo guard that averaged 17.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.8 apg and 2.2 spg for the Hornets as they made it to the third round of the NCHSAA Playoffs as a No. 5 seed. Crews is a three-level scorer to keep an eye on as an unsigned senior.
Guard Christian Bullock – Goldsboro
Bullock is another unsigned senior guard with tons of ability as a playmaker and defender. He was a stat sheet stuffer in the backcourt this season for Goldsboro. He put up 14.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.4 apg and 1.7 spg while shooting 50 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from 3-point land. He’s a competitive player hungry for a few college looks after compiling a record of 41-9 over the last two seasons.
Guard/Wing Christopher Nobles Christopher Nobles 6'5" | CG Garner | 2020 State NC – Garner Magnet
Nobles is an unsigned senior prospect with versatility at 6-foot-6. He can play inside or out on both ends given his strength and frame and won’t hesitate to shoot it from deep. He earned SWAC Tournament MVP after posting 26 points in the championship game over Apex Friendship. He was a big reason the Trojans earned a No. 1 seed in the NCHSAA Tournament. They fell in the third round to Lumberton, the team that was set to appear in the 4A title game against North Mecklenburg.
Forward Nick Farrar Nick Farrar 6'7" | PF Apex Friendship | 2020 State #203 Nation NC – Apex Friendship
Farrar and the Patriots came up a bit short in the state playoffs, falling by three points to Lumberton, but it doesn’t take away from the body of work he established for himself over the past few seasons. He was a double-double machine for Apex Friendship the past two seasons, as they went 45-12 with him in the rotation. He’s a prospect due to make waves at NC State at the next level.
Forward Jalen Mccoy Jalen Mccoy 6'6" | PF Millbrook | 2020 State NC – Millbrook
Mccoy was the unsung hero for the Wildcats in the post when Will Felton wasn’t scoring. He put up 12.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per contest in his final season with Millbrook. He posted a career-high 30 points against Hillside to show off his ability as an efficient scorer in the paint. He shot 15-of-21 (71 percent) from the field in the victory. He holds offers from Georgia Southwestern and Saint Andrews University.
2nd Team
Guard Kamon Green Kamon Green 6'1" | PG Sanderson | 2020 State NC – Sanderson
Green is an underrated combo guard that has the ability to make things happen when the ball comes his way. He can get to the rim off the dribble and shoot it on all three levels with ease. Defensively, he’s a prospect that creates havoc when he’s on the floor and looks to compete. He holds an offer from Bluefield College.
Guard Daveon Dunn – Garner Magnet
Dunn is another underappreciated guard in the backcourt at Garner Magnet. He’s a crafty mechanic with the ball in his hands, methodically breaking down the defense for points and plays for teammates. He came on strong down the stretch and was another key reason they won the SWAC and earned a No. 1 seed in the state playoffs. He’s an unsigned prospect worth a few looks by college coaches.
Wing/Forward C.J. Ray C.J. Ray 6'5" | SF South Johnston | 2020 State NC -South Johnston
Ray finished his career at South Johnston as one of the most productive forwards at 6-foot-5. He took home Player of the Year honors in the Greater Neuse as well as first-team All-Conference given his ability to play and defend all positions on the floor. He’s an underrated versatile prospect that’s a qualifier for teams in need.
Forward Brandon Johnson – Rolesville
Johnson was another double-double machine in 2019-20 for the Rolesville Rams. He produced 16.6 ppg, 12.5 rpg, 2.4 apg and 1.2 bpg as a forward that can defend and stretch the floor on offense with his shooting ability. He’s an unsigned forward at 6-foot-7 that should get some looks late into the offseason.
Forward Kaleb Scott Kaleb Scott 6'7" | PF Holly Springs | 2020 State #351 Nation NC – Holly Springs
Scott is a 6-foot-9 forward that’s really developed as a threat in the paint on both ends for Holly Springs over the past few seasons. He was a bright spot for a rebuilding Golden Hawks squad in the frontcourt. He’ll make waves this upcoming season as a member of the Georgia State Panthers.
3rd Team
Guard Tre Waller Tre Waller 6'3" | PG Heritage | 2020 State NC – Heritage
Waller was the starting point guard for the Huskies this past season and did well to control the tempo using his size and smoothness with the ball in his hands. He put up 10.4 ppg, 3.3 apg and 2.6 rpg for the NAC6 Champions and earned first-team All-Conference honors for his performance. He’s headed to Saint Vincent College following his senior season.
Guard Armon Muldrew Armon Muldrew 6'4" | CG Panther Creek | 2020 State NC – Panther Creek
Muldrew was a new face in the Panther Creek rotation in 2019-20 but he fit in well with his ability to play with and without the ball in his hands. He reads the defense well to make smart reads when the ball is in his hands and is another solid defender for them. He’s headed to Lenoir Rhyne after his final season with Panther Creek.
Guard/Wing Jikari Johnson – Riverside-Durham
Johnson was the leading scorer for the Pirates as they made noise in the Triangle 8 Conference. He averaged 12.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 1.0 apg on the wing for one of the surprise teams in Durham. He’s gotten some looks from some local junior college programs and should continue to do so heading into the offseason.
Forward Dr’ake Thompson – Hillside
Thompson is an underrecruited 6-foot-4 forward that was a force on the interior this season for the Hornets. He produced 8.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in his senior campaign. When he touches the ball in the post, good things tend to happen. He’s also a bear to keep off the boards. He’ll be an unsigned senior to keep an eye on in the coming months.
Forward Sam Hood Sam Hood 6'8" | SF Millbrook | 2020 State NC – Millbrook
Hood was a part of Millbrook’s success in the frontcourt and on the wing with his ability to excel at the forward spot. He averaged 9.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steals per contest as a sharpshooter and rim-runner. He has the skills to finish in the paint with authority and knock it down from deep. He holds offers from Elizabeth City State, Coker College and Georgie Southwestern.
