MVP: 2022 Forward Avion Pinner Avion Pinner 6'9" | PF Concord Academy | 2023 State NC – Riverside
Pinner was one of the top bigs in the sophomore class in 2019-20. He put together 20 double-doubles across 27 contests while averaging 20.7 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 2.2 spg, 1.7 bpg and 1.5 apg during the 2019-20 season. He’s a rising prospect that’s beginning to turn heads with his ability to finish at the rim in the paint at 6-foot-5. He earned first-team All-District and All-Conference honors as a sophomore and has a ton of room to grow over the next few seasons.
1st Team
2022 Guard Keondre Rodgers Keondre Rodgers 5'8" | PG Hertford County | 2022 NC – Hertford County
Rodgers is one of only a few players in the sophomore class to be selected to an All-District team. He averaged 13.4 ppg, 3.9 apg, 2.6 spg and 2.4 rpg during his sophomore campaign as the second-leading scorer for the Bears. They made it to the third round of the state playoffs before falling to Reidsville. Look for him to be back in 2020-21 looking to make a deeper run in the postseason.
2022 Guard/Wing Omar Harris Omar Harris 6'4" | CG South Central | 2022 State NC – Washington County
Harris is a versatile prospect in the Washington County backcourt with the ability score, rebound and create for others. He was an All-Conference selection for the Panthers after averaging 12.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.9 apg and 2.8 spg for the 23-3 Panthers who also went 9-1 in conference action. He’s slowly figuring out how to make his presence known on the floor and is due to breakout even more as a junior.
2022 Guard/Wing Aaron Murphy Aaron Murphy 6'5" | SF Greenfield | 2022 State NC – JH Rose
Murphy is another versatile prospect at 6-foot-4 that has the ability to play inside and outside given his solid frame and length. He was an All-District performer and All-Conference selection after putting up 19.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 2.4 apg and 1.6 spg during the 2019-20 season. He had quite the breakout season after averaging just 9.5 ppg during his freshman year. He’ll be one to keep an eye on for the Rampants this summer and upcoming high school season.
2022 Wing/Forward Jackson Noble Jackson Noble 6'7" | C Greensboro Day | 2022 State NC – North Edgecombe
McCrae came on strong down the stretch and averaged 15.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks per contest to power them in the frontcourt. He also managed to make 4 Jarvis Moss Jarvis Moss 6'4" | SG Cannon School | 2021 State NC -pointers in 2019-20 for North Edgecombe, good for first on the team. He’ll be a breakout prospect in the summer and next fall for the Warriors.
2022 Forward C.J. Collins – West Craven
Collins is another breakout prospect to keep an eye on after putting up 8.0 ppg, 10.3 rpg and 3.3 bpg on the interior. He’s a 6-foot-8 forward that makes his presence known on the defensive glass and protecting the rim. As he develops on the offensive end, he’ll be a big man to watch in this class.
2nd Team
2022 Guard Jamie “J.D.” Gibbs – Pamlico County
Gibbs is listed at just 5-foot-9 but he makes up for it with his ability to set the tone on both ends. He’s a quick floor general that won’t hesitate to get to the paint and finish off the glass. He’s a guard in the 2022 class that’s starting to get some early notice after the Hurricanes went 11-1 in conference action and 18-8 on the year.
2023 Guard Jamal Townsend Jamal Townsend 6'0" | CG Northern Nash | 2023 State NC – Rocky Mount
In his first season on varsity, Townsend produced 9.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.4 apg and 1.5 spg as one of the younger prospects in the backcourt. He’s a combo guard that’s learning how to compete on both ends by making plays. He’s quick for his size at 5-foot-11 and does well make things difficult when he’s on the floor on the defensive end.
2022 Guard Tychaun Clay Tychaun Clay 5'10" | PG Hunt | 2022 NC – Hunt
Clay is another 5-foot-9 guard with some room to grow in the coming seasons. He led the Warriors in 2019-20 in scoring with 13.5 ppg and assists with 4.7 per contest to show off his ability to make an impact with and without the ball. He was another sophomore player that was named to All-District honors as well as All-Conference honors for Hunt in 2019-20. Keep an eye on him to break out in 2020-21.
2023 Guard/Wing Khyelle Ingram Khyelle Ingram 6'5" | CG Bull City Prep | 2023 State NC – K.I.P.P.
Ingram is a player that surprised some given the Pride already have one freshman in Chicale Ward Chicale Ward 6'4" | SF Bull City Prep | 2023 State NC with tremendous upside. Ingram showed off his upside at the guard spot at 6-foot-3 and is another name to watch over the next few seasons at KIPP. He produced 11.3 ppg and should continue to develop as one of their top playmakers.
2022 Wing/Forward Jaylen Williams – Riverside
Williams is a sophomore that plays well alongside the area MVP: Avion Pinner Avion Pinner 6'9" | PF Concord Academy | 2023 State NC . He put up 10.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.3 apg and 1.8 spg for the Knights in 2019-20 as they finished 10-2 in conference action. They’re a competitive bunch and given their three top players from last year are all sophomores, it will be interesting to see how they bring each other along.
