Chatham Charter (31-1) vs. Lincoln Charter (27-2)
The Chatham Charter Knight travel on the road to face the Lincoln Charter Eagles on Tuesday. Senior forward Jordan Hamilton scored 18 points in their win over Hayesville. The Knights used a 24-11 outburst to create some distance on the scoreboard in the end for a 58-40 victory. Interestingly enough, the Knights are undefeated on the road this season at 11-0.
Sophomore guard Sam Cogan has led the way all season in scoring with 18.3 points per contest to go along with 8.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He’s one of four players averaging double-figures in scoring for the Eagles. Junior Troy Fulton is second in scoring at 15.6 points per game while seniors Anthony Davis and Axel Holm are producing 12.2 points and 11.8 points per contest, respectively. Holm is also averaging 7.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Winston-Salem Prep (20-8) vs. Mountain Island Charter (23-5)
Seniors Demetrius Washington and Anthony Phillips combined to score 49 points in an 80-63 victory over Starmount. Washington also posted 10 assists, seven rebounds and three steals while. Junior forward Marquis Williams also posted 16 points and four rebounds, while junior wing Najee Steward snagged 10 rebounds. Keep an eye on the backcourt matchup between Washington and Winston-Salem Prep’s Stephen Minor.
Minor has flipped the proverbial switch at the right time for Winston-Salem Prep. Minor posted 31 points in a 71-51 victory over North Rowan in the Sweet 16 while Anthony Sellars finished with 14 points as well. The Phoenix’ have slowly figured things out and look to continue their winning ways into the Final Four.
Granville Central (22-7) vs. North Edgecombe (26-2)
The Panthers have won two games in a row on the road heading into their meeting with the Warriors. Granville Central won handily against West Columbus thanks to a triple-double from Terence Harcum Jr..Harcum put up 25 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and four steals in an 88-68 victory over West Columbus. Jamari Mann led the way in scoring with 34 points on seven made 3-pointers. Senior guard Ihzayah Marcellus posted 17 points as well.
North Edgecombe comes in led by senior high-flyer Marvin Tucker Jr., Tar Roanoke Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He’ll look to slow down the dynamic duo of Harcum and Mann while holding home-court advantage. D’Shun Edwards is another prospect in the frontcourt to keep an eye on.
John A. Holmes (28-1) vs. Henderson Collegiate (24-10)
Henderson Collegiate Pride and John A. Holmes Aces will travel to Perquimans High School to face off in their neutral-site matchup in the Elite Eight.
The Pride have been firing on all cylinders off playoffs and are coming off a 93-43 victory over East Carteret in the Sweet 16. Javonte Waverly and Queens commit Kalib Matthews led the way with 23 points apiece while junior guard Nick Green chipped in with 20 points. They’ve won 12 games and counting heading in.
The Aces have just one loss on the season to and coming off a 56-53 win over Washington County in the Sweet 16. Keenan Downing led the way with 16 points while Keimonte Raynor put up 13 points and 13 rebounds and Jewell Coston posted 11 points. They’re a team with depth that should be a solid matchup for the Pride in a win or game home scenario.
