VonCameron Davis VonCameron Davis 6'5" | SF Walnut Ridge | 2020 State #483 Nation OH was selected as Mr. Basketball in Ohio after an outstanding 2019-20 campaign. While he is very deserving of the award, I have listed Davis and 4 other players
VonCameron Davis VonCameron Davis 6'5" | SF Walnut Ridge | 2020 State #483 Nation OH (2020) Walnut Ridge- This year’s Mr. Basketball selection, Davis earned this honor this season as he was truly the best player in the state. While he was part of a Scots team that had other weapons in Kaveon Ross Kaveon Ross 6'5" | PF Walnut Ridge | 2020 OH (2020) and Qian Magwood Qian Magwood 6'1" | PG Walnut Ridge | 2020 OH (2020), Davis was the best basketball prospect in my opinion as he torched Central Ohio with a 27 points per game average. Walnut Ridge also went on to win a City League title with Davis as one of their leaders. He is heading to Kent State to play basketball in the Fall.
Sean Jones Sean Jones 5'10" | PG Gahanna | 2022 State #102 Nation OH (2022) Gahanna Lincoln- Jones came on the scene strong last year during his freshman campaign and we expected great things out of him for his sophomore campaign. Boy did he produce. The 5’10 point guard has a great feel for the game and as a guard, shown he has the instincts and skillset to be a force on the perimeter for the next 2 years. He currently has offers from multiple MAC schools in state, but I could see some of the mid-majors in Ohio showing interest over the next year.
Keaton Turner Keaton Turner 6'0" | PG Coffman | 2020 State OH (2020) Dublin Coffman- Turner earned a place on this list with his play this year, but I feel his situation coming into the season also earned him a spot. After losing Dominiq Penn (2020) who transferred out of state before the season, Turner took over the point guard responsibilities and led the Rocks to a Top 10 finish in D1 within Central Ohio this year. He is a flashy player that makes the extra pass but also can turn up the scoring numbers when needed. He will be playing for Wofford starting in the Fall.
Desmond Watson Desmond Watson 6'5" | SF Columbus DeSales | 2021 State #207 Nation OH (2021) St. Francis DeSales- One of the most underrated players in the 2021 class in my opinion, Watson made his name known throughout the season as he led the Stallions to a Regional tournament appearance in Division II. The 6’5 small forward brings athleticism and brute strength to the table and is one of the tougher players to defend in the state. If he is above the rim, look out below. He began to pick-up low-major D1 offers near the end of the season including Cleveland State, Ohio, and Stetson but if he can build off of his 23 point per game average, he has a chance to see even more offers come in.
- J. Anthony (2020) Harvest Prep- One of the hardest working players you will find in the history of high school basketball in Central Ohio. Anthony has had a storied high school career and has shown he is simply a winner. Need an example, his heroics to defeat Worthington Christian in the District Finals should be proof just from this season. Whether you believe the foul called was controversial or not, it does not matter as Anthony is a winner-simply put. He averaged 28 points per game during the season and took over basketball games with his pure strength and physicality as a guard. He has offers from schools including Air Force and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
