Minnesota Playoff Central – All Eyes on Rochester
No more regular season games, only playoff basketball! Make sure to follow Minnesota Playoff Central every day for all important pieces of section basketball news.
The Big Stage. If you want to see playoff action tonight the place is Rochester at the Mayo Civic Center. Tonight fans can see Mr. Basketball finalist Nathan Heise and 5th ranked Lake City, the King Brothers Noah and Eli and the top ranked Caledonia squad, talented Colin Meade of Rochester Lourdes, the state’s leading scorer Will Tschetter of Stewartville, MSU-Mankato signed Brady Williams of Dover-Eyota, and maybe the state’s most under the radar scorer in St. Charles junior Kooper Vaughn (29 a game). Will there be an upset maybe?
Upset City! Speaking of upsets there wasn’t anything massive this weekend when Class A and Class AA section games were played throughout the state. Only some 5 seeds knocking off 4 seeds which in the eyes of many, is not upsets. However, Pipestone Area knocking off TMB was bigger than the 4/5 game would show. The Arrows had lost 8 of their last 10 games and just two weeks ago fell 82-80 to TMB. They turned things around with a 67-45 win. Senior JT Tinklenberg scored 20 leading the way for Pipestone Area.
Right on Schedule. Another 4/5 game was Dawson-Boyd knocking off Renville County West. It was an expected victory for the Blackjacks and a massive game for 6-foot-4 forward Zach Durfee who totaled a double-double of 25 points and a dozen boards. Not only did the senior have big numbers, he only missed one field goal the entire night leading his team to a one point win.
Where’s the Czar? This past weekend TC Hoops Czar was at the Twin Cities Championship game to see Minneapolis North defeat St. Paul Johnson. Here is an exert talking about 6-foot-3 North senior Quientrail Jamison-Travis who has come on to have a nice end of the season.
“Quientrail Jamison-Travis was in beast mode all day for North. He bullied anything and anyone in his way for a total of 27 points. 17 of those were in the 1st half. That adds a total different dimension to North’s game.” To read more head to http://tchoops.blogspot.com/
Tip of the Hat to the Career. Overtime ended the career of Minneota’s Logan Sussner, a Class A player that averaged 22 points and 15 rebounds a game this season. The loss of Jacob Hennen for the season was a big reason that Minneota fell to 15-12 on the year but without Sussner the Vikings would of struggled to win five games. Logan had a tremendous season dominating the paint for big numbers on a nightly basis.
