Compiling three teams consisting of five players was extremely difficult with the amount of talent this class showcased this season. With us keeping the teams to just five players, it was expected to make some tough decisions and leave players who deserve recognition off the list. Rightfully so, we’ll bring those players to light as a part of our honorable mention category
CJ Scott CJ Scott 6'4" | SF Archbishop Spalding | 2022 MD | 6’4 | Archbishop Spalding
Scott was essential for a Spalding team who surged late in the season in the MIAA A Conference. He’s one of the reason why the Cavaliers’ future as a team is very bright. The 6-foot-4 guard/wing is versatile with his blend of size and skill. Scott was used in many situations as the initiator offensively and as a result, improved his ball handling and overall feel for the game. Scoring wise Scott is efficient and is best when he’s in the mid-range or painted area finishing lay-ups, floaters or quick pull-ups. Without the ball Scott is good at finding openings on the baseline and making himself available to driving guards. As a defender he guarded multiple positions. From what I saw, he spent time guarding 2-4 and for short stints would guard the opposing team’s center. Scott was a consistent contributor to every statistical category.
Adam Angwafo Adam Angwafo 6'7" | C Bullis | 2022 State MD | 6’5 | Severn
Although Severn struggled overall as a team due to a youthful roster, but those are the usual steps it takes when dealing with underclassmen who eventually develop into good players and boost the team into championship contention. The Admirals are very much in that process and Angwafo is leading the way. The 6-foot-5 forward had dominant stretches this season both as a scorer and rebounder, which made finishing withe double-doubles a consistent result. Angwafo was more comfortable shooting from outside and making defenses pay if he was given time. His physical, big body presence results in offensive rebounds and put backs while his athleticism comes to the forefront in the open floor with over-the-rim finishes.
Ty Peterson | 5’11 | Archbishop Spalding
The Cavaliers started catching stride late in their schedule as you clearly saw their youth become more comfortable with play in the MIAA A Conference. Tyheil Peterson Tyheil Peterson 5'10" | PG Archbishop Spalding | 2022 State MD played an important role as the point guard who could contribute in many ways. Peterson played both on and off the ball, but was a threat in both situations because of his ability to score. He took shots in rhythm and was effective in breaking his man down off the dribble before rising up for a mid-range jumper. Despite his size he finished well around the rim and contorted his body in ways to make it difficult for shot-blockers. Peterson was a determined defender with active hands who was willing to get on the floor for 50/50 balls.

Antonio Hamlin Antonio Hamlin 6'2" | CG Mount St. Joseph | 2022 MD | 6’1 | Mount St. Joseph
Hamlin played many positions as a freshman for head coach Pat Clatchey and as a sophomore he was once again expected to guard multiple positions. Even though he stands 6-foot-1, Hamlin has the lower body strength and physicality to be an effective post defender on players 6-foot-5 and up. He’s extremely effective at leveraging his body without giving up position or fouling. The Gaels scored by committee this season, but Hamlin got his chances to mix it up. He shot well from three off the catch, continues to be efficient on his one-dribble into a mid-range jumper and finishes strong at the basket. Hamlin was sidelined for a chunk of the season with a knee injury, but his presence was felt as soon as he returned to action.
Dylan Williamson Dylan Williamson 6'0" | CG Good Counsel | 2022 State MD | 6’1 | Good Counsel
On a Good Counsel team who was equipped with skilled scoring guards, Williamson fit in just fine. The 6-foot-1 guard is extremely shifty and looks to push the tempo in transition as much as possible to make plays in the open floor where he can finish effectively at the rim. In the half court Williamson operated off of isolation or ball-screen actions to help get him free from his defender. He could hit mid-range jumpers after getting that separation or finish floaters with soft touch.
