In the coming weeks, we at PrepHoops Indiana plan on bringing you the best coverage in the state during this fun time. Let us take a look at some of the top prospects from Tuesday’s Carmel vs Hamilton Southeastern game, which makes up part of the Noblesville Sectional.
Carmel:
Jackson Jannsen – 5’11 2020 PG: Might have been the best shooter on the floor this game as he showed that off with two catch-and-3s. Has an excellent release. Type of guard that Camel can rely on to make big shots. He is going to be crucial for Carmel moving forward.
Brian Waddell – 6’5 2021 SF: Waddell was a big part of this game. Had a catch-and-3 that showed off his smooth shot. He also made some crucial free-throws at the end of the game and did a great job getting free from his defender. Waddell, however, must work on limiting his mistakes and turnovers moving forward in the post-season. Carmel needs him to play well to have any chance to win this loaded Sectional. He finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds.
Bryce Beery – 6’2 2021 PG: Beery plays really hard when he is in the game. I would even go as far to say he might have been the best defender when he was on court. His offense is not really a factor for the most part but his ability guard almost any position besides maybe the center is important. He knows his role and he plays it well.
Peter Suder – 6’3 2022 SG: Suder is one of my favorite players I have watched this year. Dude is an athlete and has a great combination of skill and the drive to be the best on the court. Had a left-handed layup and floater that stood out. He finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 steals. One of the best sophomores in the state by far.
Charlie Williams – 6’7 2022 PF: Did a really good job going up against the bigger Majok. Looked as though he turned on the aggressiveness in the bigger moments in the game. Had a nice baseline jumper. Couple things he needs to work on is adding much more muscle and putting the ball on the ground around the basket. He has time to work on those things for sure. One of Carmel’s best players.
Hamilton Southeastern:
Mabor Majok – 7’1 2020 C: Not much to say about Majok that few do not already know. This big man is a stud and has excellent skill for being a big. Had two blocks and a couple of huge slams. He finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Cleveland State is getting a good big man.
Kole Hornbuckle – 6’4 2020 SF: This SF was the best player on HSE in this game. Even though his jump shot can be a little inconsistent at times, he did have a nice 15ft jumper. Also showed off his high vertical at times and had a nice assist in transition. Hornbuckle has great energy as a player and would be a great addition to any team at the next level. He finished with 18 points and 3 rebounds.
Vinny Buccilla – 6’1 2021 SG: Buccilla had a real quiet night offensively. His defense, however, was solid so that was a highlight for him. From watching him in the past, I know that he is a great competitor, so I have a feeling that this type of game is not going to sit well with him. Buccilla will bounce back and should have himself a great senior year.
