Sophomore of the Year: Josh Dix Josh Dix 6'5" | SG Council Bluffs Lincoln | 2022 State #149 Nation IA (Council Bluffs Lincoln)
Stats: 17.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 blocks, 52.5 FG%, 39.3 3PT%
Dix led the Lynx to one of their best seasons in program history as he was the main piece for this team. Dix does a little bit of everything well on the floor and the offense ran through him. He has an early offer from South Dakota State and will pick up more this summer on the AAU circuit.
Cole Glasgow Cole Glasgow 6'2" | SG Dallas Center- Grimes | 2022 State IA (Dallas Center-Grimes)
Stats: 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 52.1 FG%, 39.3 3PT%
One of the prospects that saw his stock pick up the most was Glasgow. Listed at 6-foot-3, Glasgow is a scoring combo guard and a springy athlete with good bounce and quickness. He can create for himself and has good size for his position. He took a visit to Iowa State this winter, and is yielding interest from the likes of North Dakota, Belmont, Drake, and others.
Tanner Te Slaa Tanner Te Slaa 6'5" | SF Boyden-Hull | 2022 State IA (Boyden-Hull)
Stats: 17.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 53.3 FG%, 45.5 3PT%
Being from the western part of the state, Te Slaa doesn’t get the exposure that he deserves. The lengthy combo guard led the Comets to a State title last week, and emerged as one of the top players in his class. Te Slaa is a reliable shooter that can create for himself and others. He could improve his athleticism, but the skillset is there for him. South Dakota State and Augustana have offered early while more offers are bound to come in the future.
Trey Campbell Trey Campbell 6'4" | PG Cedar Falls | 2022 State IA (Cedar Falls)
Stats: 6.5 points, 4.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 49 FG%
Campbell’s role for Cedar Falls was the facilitator and the leader of the offense, and he did just that. Campbell had some underclassmen mistakes throughout the year, but he plays much older than a sophomore, and is poised for a breakout year as a junior. Campbell is a tremendous athlete and an improving scoring threat. Keep an eye on him.
Eli Raridon (West Des Moines Valley)
Stats: 13.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 59.6 FG%
Raridon saw his role increase when standout senior big man Will Berg Will Berg 6'8" | PF Valley | 2020 State #480 Nation IA went down with a torn ACL. Raridon picked up the scoring slack, and showed a lot of promise as a sophomore in Class 4A. Raridon, a standout tight end on the football field, has a strong build and is an outstanding athlete. I could see Raridon picking up a couple of offers on the hardwood along with the football field, where he could be one of the best tight ends nationally in his class when it’s all said and done.
Second Team
Carson Toebe Carson Toebe 6'3" | PG Clear Lake | 2022 State IA (Clear Lake)
Stats: 14.5 points, 5.4 rebounds 4.1 assists, 2.5 steals, 39.3 FG%
Toebe has been running the show at the point for Clear Lake since his freshman year, and has done a fine job. Toebe’s best trait is his passing ability, and his vision on the court. His shooting numbers could be better, but he had to step up this year and take on more of a scoring role.
Gunner Meyer (Wapsie Valley)
Stats: 10.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 51.8 FG%, 44.4 3PT%
One of the prospects that helped his stock the most in Des Moines last week was Meyer. The 6-foot-4 wing is scoring threat that can put the ball in the bucket at all three levels. He’s a solid athlete, too, as his putback dunk in the semifinal game was one of the highlights of the tournament. Intriguing prospect.
Trevion Lebeaux (Waterloo East)
Stats: 14.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 56.5 FG%
The 6-foot-3 wing is an elite athlete with a lot of bounce. A lot of upside to work with, and could be an even better prospect if he improves his perimeter scoring. He played with a very talented 2022 All Iowa Attack team last summer.
Ruot Bijiek Ruot Bijiek 6'9" | C Dowling Catholic | 2020 AZ (Dowling Catholic)
Stats: 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks
With Dowling’s frontcourt being loaded, Bijiek didn’t get any varsity action this summer. However, Bijiek put up crazy numbers at the junior varsity level, averaging a double-double. Iowa, TCU, and others are showing interest in Bijiek, and love how much he’s improved over the past year. Bijiek is a skilled post who is still developing at 6-foot-9.
Trey Lewis Trey Lewis 5'10" | PG Johnston | 2022 State IA (Johnston)
Stats: 10.9 points, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals, 48.6 FG%, 49.9 3PT%
Listed at 5-foot-8, Lewis is undersized, but he can play. Lewis is a scoring guard with a great feel for the game. His athleticism has continued to improve, and his quickness jumps out. He put up efficient scoring numbers and improved as a ballhandler. If Lewis can grow a couple of inches, he’s a surefire D1 prospect.
Third Team
Armonniey Thomas Armonniey Thomas 6'2" | PG Marshalltown | 2022 State IA (Marshalltown)
Stats: 19.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.2 steals, 39.4 FG%
Austin Hilmer Austin Hilmer 5'10" | PG North Linn | 2022 State IA (North Linn)
Stats: 17.7 points, 8.0 assists, 3.6 steals, 3.0 rebounds, 47.2 FG%, 38.1 3PT%
Gabe Burkle Gabe Burkle 6'7" | PF Prairie | 2022 State IA (Prairie)
Stats: 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 58.4 FG%
Corey Phillips Corey Phillips 6'5" | PF Ames | 2022 State IA (Ames)
Stats: 9.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals, 40.7 FG%
Eddie Burgess (Montezuma)
Stats: 11.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.7 steals, 65.3 FG%
