A skilled, 6-6 combo forward, Brandon suffered a torn Achilles leading into his 17U summer and missed out on it entirely, which slowed down his recruitment. He has solid footwork, soft hands and great touch around the rim, and handles the ball fairly well. He’ll likely need to transition out towards the perimeter more at the next level, and he’s shown a solid jumper from about 15 feet and in. He’ll need to continue to add some range to that. He rebounds the ball well.
32 | Cael Schmitt Cael Schmitt 5'10" | PG Wahlert Catholic | 2020 State IA | PG | Wahlert Catholic
Schmitt is small, but really talented and is a great competitor. He’s an excellent on-ball perimeter defender with great lateral quickness and quick hands. He likes to get into the opposing ball handler and really make them work. On the offensive end, he has a good handle and feel for the game, and a strong pull-up game with a silky smooth jumper.
33 | LJ Henderson LJ Henderson 6'2" | SG Camanche | 2020 State IA | SG | Camanche
A supremely athletic 6-2 slashing wing, Henderson was in the running to compete in the National High School Dunk Contest. An above-the-rim finisher who provided a ton of highlights for the Indians this season, he was remarkably efficient, led the team in assists and steals and was a game-changing presence on both ends of the floor. He recently committed to play football at JuCo powerhouse Iowa Western.
34 | Curran Ingram Curran Ingram 6'2" | SG Des Moines Christian | 2020 State IA | SG | Des Moines Christian
A 6-3 scoring guard, Ingram can fill it up from all three levels. He’s a well-built guard with a great first step that he uses to blow by defenders and get to the rim, and he shot nearly 43% from behind the arc this season as well. He has a score-first, score-often mentality, and averaged 18.2 points a game for the Lions, while shooting 53.3% from the floor.
35 | Romanique Hellems Romanique Hellems 6'3" | SF Roosevelt | 2020 State IA | SF | Roosevelt
Hellems is a 6-4 wing with a lot of length, athleticism and a bag full of tools for a college coach to refine and play around with. He’s a good scorer who is at his best when he’s in attack mode and getting to the rim. He can rebound, has the size and athleticism to defend multiple positions, and with more coaching and an improved jumper, he could be one of the steals of Iowa’s 2020 class.
36 | Matt Stilwell Matt Stilwell 6'2" | CG Dowling Catholic | 2020 State IA | CG | Dowling Catholic
Stilwill is the type of guard who doesn’t do anything great, but does everything really well. A 6-2 slasher, he needs to continue to improve his perimeter stroke, but he’ll defend, rebound, can dish it and can get to the rim. He ranked second on the team in scoring and assists, third in rebounding and led the Maroons in steals. Just an all-around really solid player who is going to stuff the box score and do a little bit of everything. He’s the type of player that teams need to win games. He’ll play at Briar Cliff.
37 | Kiks Rosengarten Kiks Rosengarten 6'7" | PF Wapsie Valley | 2020 State IA | PF | Wapsie Valley
This 6-7 lefty puts the “power” in power forward. He’s a really strong big man who loves to play through contact. He has great hands, good footwork and touch around the rim, and can step out and knock down an occasional 3. He’s tough and loves to rebound. What more could you want? After playing for legendary coach Marty McKowen in high school (and helping him win his first state title), Rosengarten will head to Upper Iowa to play for Marty’s son, Brooks.
38 | Drew Daniel Drew Daniel 6'5" | SF Dowling Catholic | 2020 State IA | SF | Dowling Catholic
A skilled 6-6 forward with a nice looking perimeter stroke, Daniel knocked down a team-high 45 3-pointers for the Maroons as a senior, and was second on the team in rebounding. He moves well without the ball, is ready to shoot on the catch, and has the size and strength to bang with bigger bodies in the paint as well.
39 | Josh Van Gorp Josh Van Gorp 6'9" | C Pella Christian | 2020 State IA | C | Pella Christian
Few players made a bigger leap in the final rankings than the 6-9 center from Pella Christian. A skilled lefty with great footwork, soft hands and good touch around the rim, he had an extremely successful senior season, averaging 15.7 points on 69.8% shooting. He rebounds well and establishes good position, and doesn’t give up that positioning on the block. He’ll need to continue to improve his athletic ability at the next level. He’ll play at Central.
40 | Daniel Wright Daniel Wright 6'8" | PF Sergeant Bluff-Luton | 2020 State IA | PF | Sergeant Bluff-Luton
Wright will play quarterback at Wisconsin at the next level, but the 6-8 stretch-4 would’ve been a really good prospect on the hardwood had he focused solely on that. He’s a fantastic passer with great size and a nice looking stroke from behind the arc. He has the ability to score inside and out, can protect the rim and you can play through him on the offensive end of the floor.
