Team basketball is abundant with most teams in this class, without there being one guy that’s head-over-heels better than everyone else. However, there are four guys distributed between two teams that were better than the rest.
Nate Goodlow Nate Goodlow 6'2" | PG Del City | 2020 State OK : Del City, Guard.
Goodlow is Del City’s senior leader and a very talented player. He’s one of the few two-way players in high school basketball that can be considered a true two-way player. In Friday night’s win over Lawton MacArthur, Goodlow scored 12 points but recorded six steals and two blocks to go with that. He’s one of the grittiest players in high school basketball and will for sure play at the next level. The biggest question is, can he play a lead-role in Del City winning the State Title this year?
Keyondre Young Keyondre Young 6'7" | SF Del City | 2021 State OK : Del City, Forward.
Young is…young. He’s just a junior but is the tallest and most athletic player on a Del City team full of athletes. What sticks out most to me is Young’s ability to stretch the floor. You may see a lot of true stretch power forwards in the NBA, but it’s not very often you see them in high school. Well, standing at 6-foot-7, Young is a true stretch-four that’ll probably play small forward at the college level. Young scored 11 points on Friday night, and six of those came from beyond the arc. Look for this name next year as he’ll be one of the best seniors in the state on one of the best teams in the state.
Tristen Klien: Lawton MacArthur, Forward.
Klien is a freshman and he’s on this list. That’s all that needs to be said, but I’ll go ahead and say more. He’s young, he’s raw and he hasn’t figured out how good he is yet. Right now, he’s an extremely athletic player that hasn’t put it all together yet, but when he does, he’ll be a top-three player in the state of Oklahoma. Klien is a defensive-minded player, which is great because that’s something you can’t teach a player. He’ll learn how to be an offensive threat, but right now he’s a terrifying presence on defense in the paint.
Arzhonte Dallas: Lawton MacArthur, Guard.
Let me say this: Lawton Mac will be a huge threat in Class 5A very soon with the youthful duo of Dallas and Klien (listed above). Dallas can’t be taller than 5-foot-11 but plays like he’s 6-foot-5 at times. His ability to accelerate and his ability to elevate makes him a threat on both ends of the floor, much like Klien.
