Day 1 Top Performers
Day 2 Top Performers
Here is a look at the top performances on the day.
Michael James Michael James 6'5" | SF Oak Ridge | 2021 State #113 Nation FL (Oak Ridge)
Before leaving at the very end of the fourth quarter with a knee sprain, 2021 6’5″ guard Michael James Michael James 6'5" | SF Oak Ridge | 2021 State #113 Nation FL was absolutely balling. He was being aggressive on both ends of the floor as an attacker, taking charges on defense and simply outworking guys to score a game-high 27 points. A physical athlete, James can shoot it from deep, get to the rack on his own and push the cause. He shot 8-of-12 from the field which included 4-of-6 from deep. James is a high major athlete who will be in for a huge summer for AAU.
Amaire Perkins Amaire Perkins 6'1" | CG Sanford Seminole | 2020 State FL & O’Shae Baker O’Shae Baker 5'10" | CG Seminole | 2020 State FL (Seminole)
Seminole and Forest Hill met in the second 7A state semifinal of the day and there was endless speed on hand. The Seminoles built a big second quarter lead and never looked back advancing to its first ever state title. 2020 guard duo Amaire Perkins Amaire Perkins 6'1" | CG Sanford Seminole | 2020 State FL (24 points) and O’Shae Baker O’Shae Baker 5'10" | CG Seminole | 2020 State FL (16 points, nine rebounds and six steals) did plenty for its side. Perkins was active from the jump, getting to the cup and scoring while Baker was all over the court making life hard for Forest Hill.
Ven-Allen Lubin Ven-Allen Lubin 6'7" | PF Orlando Christian Prep | 2022 State #144 Nation FL , Eric Butler Eric Butler 6'3" | SG Orlando Christian Prep | 2020 State #350 Nation FL & AJ Brown AJ Brown 6'4" | CG Orlando Christian Prep | 2022 State #190 Nation FL (Orlando Christian Prep)
The trio that led Orlando Christian Prep all season long did more than enough for the Warriors to take home its third state title in four years. 2022 6’6″ forward Ven-Allen Lubin had a few high flying alley-oops dunk that sealed the game. He finished with 16 points and nine boards and simply was too much with his length and craftiness near the rim. 2020 6’3″ Southern Illinois signee Eric Butler Eric Butler 6'3" | SG Orlando Christian Prep | 2020 State #350 Nation FL hit some key buckets late in the second half to end with 12 points while 2022 6’3″ guard AJ Brown AJ Brown 6'4" | CG Orlando Christian Prep | 2022 State #190 Nation FL bounced back after a slow start, getting out on the break with 10 points.
Michael Lott & Brent Davis Brent Davis 6'1" | CG Miramar | 2020 State FL (Miramar)
A pair of 2020 leaders for Miramar helped the Patriots eventually put away a scrappy Oak Ridge group. 6’4″ forward Michael Lott had 14 points and six rebounds, shooting 6-of-8 from the field while 6’3″ Citadel signee Brent Davis Brent Davis 6'1" | CG Miramar | 2020 State FL paced him with 11 points. Miramar didn’t hurt Oak Ridge with the deep ball, but it was active on the boards and making the most of its opportunities in transition.
Donovan Draper Donovan Draper 6'6" | PF Forrest Hill | 2021 State FL (Forest Hill)
The effort level from 2021 6’6″ forward Donovan Draper Donovan Draper 6'6" | PF Forrest Hill | 2021 State FL was on full display in a speedy tilt against Seminole. He had 12 points and 17 rebounds, trying to do whatever he could for his team. If Draper gets stronger, even tougher and develops a jump shot this summer, he will be a bloomer who colleges will come after soon enough.
Torey Buie Torey Buie 6'2" | CG Bradford | 2020 FL (Hawthorne)
For the second straight day, 2020 Hawthorne guard Torey Buie Torey Buie 6'2" | CG Bradford | 2020 FL carried the brunt of the load for the Hornets. He had 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Both teams shot very poor, but it was Buie who took advantage and lifted his team to its second state title ever and first since 1987.
Jordin Jackson Jordin Jackson 5'10" | PG Impact Christian | 2020 State FL (Impact Christian)
The most important player to Impact Christian over these state runs has been 2020 Warner signee Jordin Jackson Jordin Jackson 5'10" | PG Impact Christian | 2020 State FL . He battled all game long with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Impact Christian played slow ball until Orlando Christian Prep pulled away in the fourth quarter but Jackson never stopped grinding it out and pushing the tempo. Jackson is going to flourish at Warner as a quick minded guard who can finish. He’s a high IQ kid.
