With the 2020 season abruptly coming to a halt, we begin to look forward to what is to come next year. The Class of 2021 is loaded with talent. A lot of that talent is based in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Here is a look at some of those juniors rising up in the rankings.
Juan Reyna Juan Reyna 6'3" | CG Duncanville | 2021 State TX 6’2 sharpshooter that plays shooting guard for the Duncanville Panthers. Reyna has a quick release with an unlimited amount of range. He shoots 48% from the inside the arch, 37% from 3 point range, and 84% from the foul line. Do not leave this kid open, or he will make you pay. His high IQ allows him to always be the right spots either to make a good pass or score a bucket. Juan is a solid defender that will continue to get better. Everything Juan Reyna Juan Reyna 6'3" | CG Duncanville | 2021 State TX brings to the court makes him an extremely significant piece to a championship team. He averaged 10.9 points a game this season; a number we all expect to shoot up in his senior season.
Jerome Rogers Jr. Star Guard for the reigning 3A championship Madison High School basketball team. Jerome is a swift lefty with great control for the pace of the game, a consistent 3-point shot, and does an exceptional job of playing the passing lanes. Not only has Rogers improved at every aspect of the game, but he has also become incredibly hard to stop once he catches fire. His skills have led the Madison basketball team to back to back championships; along with the championship MVP award. This young man has a winners’ DNA. His father and sister both were state champs, and now he has gone on to continue the family legacy. Jerome Rogers may be the most underrated guard in Dallas. I cannot wait to see how he finishes his high school career.
Duncan Powell Duncan Powell 6'7" | PF DeSoto | 2021 State #128 Nation TX Duncan is the type of player every coach would love to have. He’s the most versatile player on the court, he can play and guard any position, gives 100% effort on every possession, and plays the game with a passion. Duncan is a 6’7 power forward with a knockdown turnaround jumper and handles like a point guard. The best part of Duncan’s game has got to be between his post moves and his court vision. He has good footwork and always seems to find the open man. His athletism is off the charts, he’s all over the court, and if you’re standing under the goal he will dunk on you. Duncan Powell Duncan Powell 6'7" | PF DeSoto | 2021 State #128 Nation TX is currently committed to playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks after his senior season at Desoto high school.
Wade Taylor Wade Taylor 6'0" | PG Lancaster | 2021 State #103 Nation TX Highly recruited guard for Lancaster high school that seems to get better game after game. Wade is an all-around offensive weapon who always makes his presence felt on the court. He has a good sense of when to drive and when to pull up and shoot. Wade has a quick shot that he hits consistently, but his lightning-fast quickness gets him to the basket at will. He drives to hole strong every time and is an impressive finisher with both hands. Wade Taylor Wade Taylor 6'0" | PG Lancaster | 2021 State #103 Nation TX scores in so many ways it makes him almost impossible to guard. If he continues to improve he could be the best in Texas.
Tyler Lundblade Tyler Lundblade 6'5" | SG Greensboro Day | 2021 State NC Grapevine Faith Christian’s 6’4 Tyler Lundblade Tyler Lundblade 6'5" | SG Greensboro Day | 2021 State NC had 10 double-doubles, 2 40-point games, and was voted to his second All-District First Team honors this season, all while averaging a ridiculous 28.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season. He’s a pure shooter with perfect form and a beautiful jump shot. He moves well without the ball and always finds an open shot. He’s such an efficient player he draws double teams, and even then he still can get his shot off. Lundblade loves the 3 ball and he shoots it at a 40% rate. Once the ball touches his hands you can expect a bucket. He is most likely the most efficient and best shooter the Dallas. His senior season will be something to behold.
