Continue ReadingEvery year a good amount of players fly under college coaches radar. The greater Sacramento area has consistently produced high-level basketball prospects. This past season, there has been an astronomical amount of players who have proven that they are capable of player at the next level. Many of these players carried an outstanding high school career but also stepped up big time during there senior season.
Charlie Garrison – The 6-foot-8 big man is a big presence in the paint. A quality senior season for the captain scoring 13.9 points, dishing out 2.3 assists, snatching 10.6 rebounds and blocking 1.8 shots. Garrison has made his self-known all throughout Northern California with his game.
Anand Mepperla – A player who is very productive on both ends of the court. Mepperla led the Foothill Valley Conference in double-doubles. The senior averaged 13.5 points, 1.8 assists, 8.9 rebounds and had 2.1 steals to earn first-team honors.
Jake Lanigan – The senior was huge in Lincoln becoming co-champions of the FVL. Lanigan put up 11 points and captured 4 rebounds per contest. A player who can do it all for a team.
Parker Wright Parker Wright 6'0" | PG Ponderosa | 2020 State CA-N – Wright ended his senior season guiding his team to become co-league champions and win a first-team selection. Wright led the FVL in charges taken while scoring 11.7 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals a game.
Jaden Henderson – The senior is a great leader on and off the court, who help Antelope have a turnaround season. Henderson gained first-team CVC honors as he averaged 13 points, 2.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. The guard has a nice stroke and shows signs of flashiness around the basket.
Kairee Griffen – A key player for Inderkum, Griffen did whatever needed to help his team win. Coaches throughout the league acknowledged that Griffen can play as he was a first-team selection winner in the Capital Valley Conference. The senior put up 12 points, 4 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 steals during his senior campaign.
Puneet Bains Puneet Bains 6'6" | PF River Valley | 2020 State CA-N – At 6-foot-5, the lefty can really scorch the net from deep. The senior is another first-team winner, who can move really well and push the ball in transition. Bains scored 18 points, grabbed 7.2 rebounds and blocked 1.3 shots.
Nathan Flores – The senior scored 15.7 points to go along with 2.7 rebounds during his last high school season. A first-team winner, Flores can shoot the ball very well, but he can also put the ball on the floor and get to the rim.
Anthony Piro Anthony Piro 5'9" | PG Bellarmine | 2020 State CA-N – A guard who has a lot of heart, displays great passing ability, not afraid of contact and can shoot the ball efficiently. Piro is an offensive threat who can run an offense as he helped Bellarmine to a 23-5 overall record.
Aj McGee – A floor general for Grant, McGee is a very skilled player who is a steal. McGee loves to attack the rim where he is an elite passer and scorer. The senior displayed it all with his game every night, pushing Grant to outlast opponents.
Jack Andre – The big man for Jesuit is a great student-athlete who gets it done on the court and in the classroom. Andre is a high academic player. The senior is very strong around the rim but has the ability to shoot the 3 ball consistently.
Dontrell Hewlett Dontrell Hewlett 6'3" | CG Sheldon | 2020 State CA-N – Hewlett is very athletic and explosive. The senior can play at a high level, a fierce competitor and a good teammate. Hewlett loves to play above the rim on both ends of the court but shows flashes of shooting the ball well.
Isaiah Bolden – A candidate for the SacBee Player of The Year, Bolden was dominant all season long and it was tough to contain him when he got hot. The lefty guard can scorch the ball from the mid-range and from deep but also get to the rim with ease. Bolden ended his senior campaign averaging 25.4 points, 3.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks.
Isaiah Marin – A very crafty and versatile 6-foot-5 athlete who can play above the rim and shoot the ball efficiently. Marin is very skilled and displays a high IQ. The senior is a threat offensively and is capable of guarding multiple positions.
