Elijah Billingsley of Minneapolis North (6’7 C). The big man played at the younger levels but he’s a name to keep an eye on as he develops in the coming years.
Quyavant Douglas of Brooklyn Center (6’0 PG). An explosive guard that veterans couldn’t stop from getting to the rim when he was on the court for ten games this winter. Averaged 12 points a contest in those games.
Trent Gomez of Two Harbors (5’9 PG). Gomez was given the ball and allowed to go at the basket as much as he could in a playmaking way. Gomez produced with 17 points a game.
AJ Greene of Concordia Academy (5’10 PG). Concordia Academy won 20 games and was set to play for state until the season was ended early. Greene played the duel guard role creating for himself and others at 12.5 points a game.
Jaheim Houts of Hiawatha Collegiate (6’3 SF). A raw wing with a lot of athleticism that scored 16 a game against the Hiawatha schedule. When you look over the players on the list Houts ranks with the best in terms of agility.
Boden Kapke of Holy Family (6’7 C). The Fire put a young big man on the floor the second half of the year and not only did Boden earn experience, he had some standout games including 17 against Providence Academy.
Owen Leach of DGF (6’5 PF). One of the state’s most productive big man at the Class AA level was DGF’s Owen Leach. Leach averaged 17 and eight a game including a double-double versus undefeated Perham. Key player on a 20-win team.
Jessye Lewis Jr of Hiawatha Collegiate (6’0 PG). No freshmen in Class AA put the ball in the hoop like Lewis did. Had 47 against Hmong Academy and a 30 spot against a top team in Class A (CHOF).
Will Opsahl of Goodhue (6’4 SG). Goodhue knows how to teach players how to play at a young age and when they have the IQ, the skill, and the physical readiness like Will does, you are a top weapon for a 21 win team.
Will Sellers of Maple River (6’1 SG). Maple River took a step forward this season with Sellers as the wing scorer putting up 10 a game. Had some of his better games against some of the best teams in the schedule.
Additional. Maranatha Christian Academy had three freshmen guards all mature as the year went on helping the Mustangs win 12 of their last 17. Those three guards are Bailey McDonald, Matthew Bluford, and Isaiah Bluford.
