Rose Hill defeated Parsons in the opening game (61-57); Augusta followed with a win over Ottawa (53-41); Piper defeated Buhler (71-52); and Bishop Miege won over Andale (65-61).
The Kansas High School Activities Association announced on Thursday the remaining state tournament games will not be played.
Christian Bowen-Webb Christian Bowen-Webb 6'2" | CG Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS , 6’3, G, 2022, Bishop Miege
Bowen-Webb is among the state’s young up-and-coming guards, blessed with terrific size, length and a high skill level. He has good length, gets in the passing lanes well and can create offense off the bounce. Bowen-Webb has the ability to knock down outside shots and has the ability to get out in transition and finish chances at high speed.
Jaron Briggs Jaron Briggs 6'4" | CG Piper | 2022 State KS , 6’2, G, 2022, Piper
Briggs is a strong two-way guard who works hard at the defensive end of the court. He has good size and athleticism, gets on the boards and defends multiple positions. Briggs shows a smooth outside shot but is at his best slashing to the basket and finishing easy chances in the lane.
Xavier Hall Xavier Hall 5'11" | CG Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS , 6’0, G, 2022, Bishop Miege
Hall is a talented combo guard who can handle the ball, play the point or play off the ball and put the ball in the basket. He is a knock down 3-point shooter and has a smooth, repeatable shooting stroke.
Jessie Jones, 5’7, G, 2023, Parsons
Jones is a tough, defensive minded point guard. Jones came off the bench for Parsons on Thursday against Rose Hill and showed the ability to handle the ball, the speed and quickness necessary to go end-to-end quickly but really made his mark at the defensive end of the court. He gets up into opposing ball handlers space and make life difficult with an aggressive style of play.
Noah McCullough Noah McCullough 6'1" | CG Ottawa | 2022 State KS , 6’1, 2022, Ottawa
One of the state’s better rising sophomore guards, McCullough is a smooth offensive player who is crafty off the bounce, capable of getting to the basket and can put points on the board. He has the ability to finish runners and floaters and has a knack for getting to the basket.
Kellan Simoneau, 5’10, G, 2023, Rose Hill
One of the state’s most underrated ninth-graders, Simoneau has a good feel for the game, is a crafty ballhandler and can create his own shot off the bounce. He is probably best known for his outside shooting touch and can stretch the floor with range well beyond the arc, but is also capable of creating shots and getting to the basket. He went for 11 key points in Rose Hill’s quarterfinal upset win over Parsons on Thursday.
Aidan Wing, 6’4, G/F, 2023, Bishop Miege
Wing is among the state’s top prospects in the 2023 class. He has is an athletic wing player who has good size and length and can impact a game in a variety of ways. He runs the floor exceptionally well, can play in transition and is also an effective player in a half court setting. He can knock down outside shots, score around the basket and can handle the ball. Wing is a versatile defender, able to muscle up with larger opponents in the paint or move his feet effectively on the perimeter.
