Here is a look at the standout performers from Tuesday night’s semifinal games in Park Hills:
Breven Mcmullen Breven Mcmullen 6'5" | SF Park Hills Central | 2020 State MO 6’5″ Park Hills Central: The 2020 forward scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Rebels to the victory over Farmington. He did much of his damage in the first half, especially in the first quarter when he knocked down three consecutive 3-pointers. He is a big, strong player who causes matchup problems with his size and his versatility. When he isn’t hitting 3-point shots, he is powering his way to the basket off the dribble or scoring in the post. He has really developed his entire offensive game over the course of his four-year varsity career.
Mark Moore 5’9″ Hillsboro: The 2020 point guard scored a game-high 19 points in the Hawks’ victory over North County. He has really been on an offensive tear during the home stretch of the season. He is the consummate floor leader who can pass the ball and handle the pressure, but he can also hit 3-pointers and get into the lane with his quickness and strength. He is also an excellent defensive player who get his share of steals by darting into the passing lanes with good anticipation.
Karter Kekec 6’1″ North County: The 2021 wing scored a game-high 26 points in the loss to Hillsboro. He is one of the most creative bucket-getters in the St. Francois County area. He just knows how to put the ball in the basket and he will do it in a variety of ways. His mid-range jumper on the pull-up is butter, but he is also very adept at scoring on twisting drives to the basket while scoring layups in traffic at difficult angles. He has been a consistent 20-point scorer for the past two seasons.
Sam Maddox Sam Maddox 5'10" | PG Francis Howell | 2021 State MO 6’3″ Farmington: The 6’3″ 2021 guard scored a game-high 16 points and really kept the Knights in the game for the most part as they tried to pull off the upset against No. 1 seed Park Hills Central. He was on fire in the first quarter when he scored 10 points on a couple of 3-pointers and some nice takes to the basket. His ability to make catch-and-shoot 3-pointers is his strength, but he has really developed his drive game over the course of the year.
Kendall Horton 5’11″ Park Hills Central: The 2023 guard scored seven points and was a big factor in the fourth quarter as the Rebels held off Farmington. He keyed a 13-0 run by the Rebels to close the game with a five-point spurt. He knocked down a jumper from the free throw line, then followed up with a steal and layup, which resulted in a three-point play. He played without any fear and displaed a lot of poise for a freshman playing in his first postseason game, which went down to the wire.
Isaiah Robinson 6’7″ Farmington: The 2022 forward scored eight points and caused a lot of problems on the defensive end against Park Hills Central. He has a very long wingspan to go long with is height and he took advantage of it to block shots, whether he was in the paint or on the perimeter. His offensive game is still a work in progress, but he had some very solid takes to the basket where he used his quick first step and long stride. His upside is big and if he continues to put the work it, he can develop into an excellent prospect.
