Hillsboro defeated Pratt Skyline 57-51; Sterling got past Erie 64-54; Seabury Academy defeated Valley Heights 72-45; and Garden Plain defeated Hoxie 50-47.
The Kansas High School Activities Association announced on Thursday the remaining state tournament games will not be played.
Caden Bressler, 5’11, G, 2020, Sterling
Another senior guard for Sterling who can make plays with the ball and operate as a scoring option. He can connect from range but has an up-and-down game and is good at attacking the basket. He can operate as a catch-and-shoot player or hustle player who finds his moments through his activity and movement. Bressler had 11 points against Erie.
Cobe Green Cobe Green 6'0" | CG Seabury | 2020 State KS , 6’0, G, 2020, Bishop Seabury
An impressive senior athlete who has solid athleticism. He’s active inside now and although he makes moves on the perimeter, he shows the ability and strength needed to make plays against much taller opponents inside. He has good speed and a strong build and can score for himself when he’s confident. Green has a solid skill set and can create some with his dribble or find the open man.
Stavian Jones, 5’9, G, 2021, Bishop Seabury
Jones is a nice athlete with good speed and the ability to hit 3-pointers from the corner spot. He’s a good rebounder for his size and has an eye for plays on the perimeter. He is terrific at finding open lanes in getting to the basket and was nearly impossible to slow down when he was looking to create with his dribble. He finished the game with 21 points and showcased an all-around skill-set.
Luke Hornberger, 6’5, F, 2020, Bishop Seabury
A good presence inside who can also find his way outside and on the perimeter. There’s a flexibility to his game and it comes from his years of experience as an inside-outside player. He runs the floor well and can finish in transition and has a good body for making moves in the paint. He can handle tough pressure and is a good passer and looks to contest shots and protect the basket. An all-around senior leader.
Dawson Lehman, 6’2, G/F, 2021, Erie
A solid overall player who can make things happen with and without the ball he runs the floor and makes plays in transition and can connect from the free-throw line and with quick shots around the glass. He has to play inside some but he’s comfortable making plays wherever he’s needed. Lehman also scored 15 points in the game and showed good strength through contact.
Cade Wilkey, 5’9, G, 2020, Sterling
A solid senior guard who is quick and shows good vision. He has an eye for plays and can anticipate where the ball will be and where his teammates need to be. He can create for himself and his teammates and has a way of feeding the ball inside and putting himself in a position to score. Wilkey had 12 points for the night in the win over Erie.
