Hillsboro defeated Pratt Skyline 57-51; Sterling got past Erie 64-54; Seabury Academy defeated Valley Heights 72-45; and Garden Plain defeated Hoxie 50-47.
The Kansas High School Activities Association announced on Thursday the remaining state tournament games will not be played.
Ryan Adams, 5’11, G, 2020, Skyline
A nice two-way player with a good feel for several positions. Adams is listed at 5’11 and can be counted on to make plays insce the perimeter and on the perimeter at times as well. Adams also had 12 points and was good at scoring when his team needed a basket.
Sam Bayliss, 5’11, G, 2020, Bishop Seabury
A nice senior guard who can score and defend on the perimeter. He understands his role and what he’s asked to do in his great at staying on opponents and keeping them out of range. He hustles on the floor and is a smart pastor and a good rebounder as well.
Dillon Boldt, 5’8, G, 2021, Hillsboro
The nice junior guard who can make plays and shoot from the perimeter. He is a smaller perimeter player but he’s active and has good speed and collapses on the ball and can connect from three-point range, something Hillsboro needed in the competition.
Tyler Dreiling, 6’4, F, 2021, Garden Plain
He plays strong and can come away with the ball. He just makes an impact as a defender who puts himself in a position to contribute regardless of the matchup. He hustles and stands his ground as a defender and can make smart extra passes and rebounds and even score some when he has an open look. A junior forward to keep an eye on.
Colby Haukap, 6’0, G, 2021, Garden Plain
Another player who can hit a 3-pointer and play good defense on the perimeter. He is quick and has a good understanding of his position and brings good size to the perimeter as well. He has good mechanics and a nice follow through but also can score some from the free-throw line and around the glass.
Parker Jones, 6’4, F, 2020, Hoxie
Another physical player inside for Hoxie who can make plays on both ends of the floor. He looks to contest shots and can get a hand on the ball and is good at anticipating plays in meeting opponents at the rim. He is also active off the ball and can finish plays around the basket and knock down some open shots when he has a look.
Gabriel Mannebauch, 6’0, G, 2021, Garden Plain
He has good floor spacing and can knock down shots from 3-point range. Another Garden Plain player who is listed at 6-foot but also extends the floor with his shooting. He runs well and looks to pass and creay with his dribble at times but moves well off the ball and in transition.
Matthew Potucek Matthew Potucek 5'11" | CG Hillsboro | 2022 State KS , 5’9, G, 2020, Hillsboro
A senior player for the team who is active and brings great leadership to the floor. He is a seasoned guard who understands his role in how to contribute and how to make sure his teammates are playing well. He pushes himself and those around him and the team is better because of it. He ended the game with 11 points.
Trey Smith, 6’3, G/F, 2020, Garden Plain
He can score in a variety of ways and is aggressive as a defender and shot blocker. He can defend well inside and out and gets up and has an ability to score off the glass. Smith takes what the defense gives him and can capitalize in full Court situations in half-court situations. He keeps his eyes on the ball and makes plays as a defensive player and scorer.
Jordan Thomas, 6’2, G/F, 2020 Garden Plain
Another combo player for Garden Plain who can make plays on the defensive side of the floor but also score in transition. He has good size and looks to play inside somebody has good speed and vision as well. He gets the ball out quickly and helps his team apply pressure and get transition looks.
