After all, that’s what March is all about, right? State championship play will wrap up on Saturday for the public schools. St. Frances continues their season at the historic Alhambra Tournament this Thursday. Has the past week of action impacted the power rankings? Let’s dive in.
1. St. Frances (38-4)
This week’s games: vs St. Stephen’s St. Agnes (@ Alhambra Tournament)
The Panthers will be in action for the first time since claiming the BCL title. Well rested, they take on one of the top teams in the DMV in SSSA. We’ll see if VCU commit Ace Baldwin can continue his tremendous senior campaign and help St. Frances raise the trophy when it’s all said and done. Doing so should put St. Frances in strong consideration for the Geico National Tournament.
2. Poly (24-2)
This week’s games: Class 3A Final Four vs Northeast-AA @ Xfinity Center (3 pm)
The train continues to roll for the Engineers as they have been dominant in all three of their state tournament games thus far. They’ve won all three games (vs Franklin, City and Frederick) by an average of 37 points. Marquette commit Justin Lewis Justin Lewis 6'8" | PF Baltimore Poly | 2020 State #49 Nation MD has been on a rampage. He poured in 34 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked five shots in their regional championship game against their rival City as his skill set was on full display. Lewis, 2020 guard Rahim Ali Rahim Ali 5'11" | PG Baltimore Poly | 2020 State MD and 2020 guard Brandon Murray Brandon Murray 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2021 #220 Nation FL will be critical in Poly’s pursuit of a fourth-straight Class 3A title.
3. Mount St. Joseph (27-5)

4. New Town (25-2)
This week’s games: Class 2A Final Four vs Oakdale @ Xfinity Center (9pm)
New Town has been on a tear in the 2A bracket, winning their four games by an average margin of 27 points. Delaware State commit Martaz Robinson Martaz Robinson 6'2" | CG New Town | 2020 State MD has been the facilitator as he’s been all season. The Titans face a tough Oakdale team on Friday as they attempt to put a ribbon on what’s been a season that has included a Baltimore County title and a regional championship.
5. Lake Clifton (17-5)
This week’s games: Class 1A Final Four vs Fairmont Heights (3pm)
The Lakers continue to steamroll opponents in the 1A. They’ve won their three state tournament games by and average of 43 points per game. Led by Wagner commit Michael Gray Michael Gray 5'10" | PG Lake Clifton | 2020 State MD , Lake Clifton will take on Fairmont Heights Friday in what should be the best Final Four game regardless of class.
6. City (18-2)
This week’s games: N/a
The Knights saw their season come to an end on Thursday evening against Poly. City played extremely well in the first half and had the game tied at 37 heading into halftime. Poly came out on a mission and quickly pulled away. 2020 Dominick Carrington Dominick Carrington 5'10" | PG City | 2020 State MD led the way with 16 points and remains as one of the top unsigned Baltimore seniors.
