Choosing a total of 10 players to make up the first and second teams was no easy task. Our staff deliberated for a significant amount of time before finally coming up with the names below. Stay tuned for much more postseason coverage right here at Prep Hoops Colorado.
Second TEAM
G – Ben Bowen Ben Bowen 6'5" | CG Mountain Vista | 2021 State CO – Mountain Vista
When you start discussing ceilings and potential, look no further – Bowen is your guy. But, when you also take into account all of the areas that he was able to contribute to Mountain Vista this season in ways that go beyond the scoreboard, he became an easy choice for our All-Junior team. Bowen is a confident high IQ guard that remains on the attack and is a downhill runner that pushes his teammates. He put up 16.5 points a game as the lead guard and also snagged 4.5 rebounds a game while dishing out 3.4 assists as well. Bowen is a versatile guard that can play on or off the ball. He has a developing jump shot and also can get to the lane and finish with either hand or a highlight dunk. Bowen had an outstanding junior campaign and will look to build on that with a highly anticipated senior season.
G – Greysen Carter – Fairview
There were not many players in the state that had quite the season that Carter was able to have, and that is coming from a relatively unknown player heading into the season. The reason being, because basketball is not even his primary sport. Carter is a division I baseball player that has already committed to Vanderbilt after his senior season. As good as he is on the diamond, he also shows off that same savviness and ability on the hardwood. Carter was the leading scorer on a Fairview team that was getting ready to play in the Final 4 before an abrupt ending to his junior season. Now, with his basketball future a mystery, we look back on what was an incredible junior season. Carter led Fairview to a 23-3 record as he averaged 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds a game. He shot 37% from beyond the arc but was one of the few guards that were able to take smaller defenders down to the post and have his way as well. Carter was an easy decision for an All-Junior team, and hopefully, we get one more go at it for his senior season.
G – Myles Purchase Myles Purchase 5'11" | PG Cherry Creek | 2021 State CO – Cherry Creek
Purchase went into the season with plenty of anticipation and praises from the PHC team as a true point guard that can alter the game on both ends of the court. But what Purchase was able to do this year was above even our expectations for him as he dominated opposing guards and stepped up in big games. Purchase hounded guards vying at taking down the Bruins each game and made things difficult for opposing teams. He attacked the rim and finished, played the passing lanes, and turned turnovers into scoring opportunities while getting others involved. Cherry Creek was named Centennial League champs this year, with a majority of their team being underclassmen, and their lead guard showed up. Purchase averaged 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists a game, but what made the difference was his defense. The 1st Team All-State defensive back put that same energy into his play on the court and led the league in steals at 3.2 steals a contest. Purchase will also have the decision to play either sport at the next level, and schools will be after him for both. While he will surely decide football, there is no taking away from his talent on the hardwood as well.
F – Ty Robinson Ty Robinson 6'5" | SF Eaglecrest | 2021 State CO – Eaglecrest
Eaglecrest was one of the more entertaining teams in the state this year, and a player that helped to keep them exciting and help win some games is Ty Robinson Ty Robinson 6'5" | SF Eaglecrest | 2021 State CO . Robinson’s game evolved this season as he pushed out on the perimeter a bit more as a 3-point shooter who shot just under 40% from beyond the arc as well. Robinson began the season a bit slow, but when he decided to use his physicality inside and also shoot the ball as well, he made the Raptors a bit more dangerous. Robinson is a physically gifted athlete that can dunk in the open court and also is a solid defender as well. He put up 13.3 points and 3.9 rebounds a game, and next year he will have the keys to do whatever it is that he wants. I expect him to have his best season thus far and build on a stellar career.
F – Amondo Miller Amondo Miller 6'6" | CG Valor Christian | 2021 State CO – Valor Christian
Miller is one of the unique players we have in the class as a combo guard with size that can play and defend multiple positions and this year it was on display as he led Valor Christian to a 20-6 overall record and a Final 4 appearance that was only cut short due to the season-ending. Valor went on a run that surprised many, but when looking at the way that Valor Christian was set up this season, it was a complete team with a junior leader that played the right way. The 6’5 guard led the Eagles with 12.1 points a game and also helped out on boards and defense as well. The game seems to come easy for Miller, and he can control the pace and find open holes in the defense. Miller gets to the rim and finishes, and with another year to grow, the sky seems to be the limit for the promising junior.
