Colin O’Brien
This McKinney Boyd senior had a prolific 24 points against McKinney. O’Brien hit 5 threes and 4 doggish midrange baskets over strong defenders. The shooting touch this young man exhibited in January translates, especially when you factor in how the baskets were made and the size he has to play either guard spot.
KJ Pruitt
Pruitt isn’t exactly known as a shooter, but in his senior year, the three connected. In a game against Hebron, he shot it with confidence leading to a 5-5 three point performance. For a strong 6-4 guard shooting is a must and sparks like this show he can get it done.
Ryan Argawal
Argawal is only a sophomore but could be the best shooting prospect out of Texas in some time. A model of consistency from deep with an array of moves to get shots off. In the 5 games I watched this season he never shot below 40% from three and made never less than 4 threes. That combined size, and shooting touch hard to match at the high school level.
Grayson Allo
In the same game, Pruitt had his big performance Allo gave his own. 3-5 from deep and a nice midrange floater were the highlights of the performance, but the off ball movement made it notable. When this 6-4 guard comes off screens, the rim becomes a hula hoop.
Micah Peavy
Peavy showed a sharp pull-up game at the Elite 14 showcase. No wasted movement, just smooth and effective. He connected for 7 jumpers around the free throw line against Oklahoma’s Booker T. Washington. At nearly 6-8 while being a high level athlete, the shooting performance displayed what could be a dynamic part of his game.
Ja’Kobe Walters
Freshmen usually aren’t as consistent as Walters. Since the summer the 6-4 Swiss Army knife has connected for timely shots and it was no different. He went 3-3 against McKinney Boyd and 3-4 against Allen. If he can keep his stroke consistent as he matures his game, the top spot in Texas’ 2023 class will be a battle.
BJ Francis
Another senior that made the list with a fantastic pre-season display. Francis connected for 8 three pointers on 10 attempts in Duncanville’s fall league. Getting that production isn’t common, but knowing your floor general can get that hot is essential in the modern game.
Jeffery Mills
I will say this every chance I get, Air Force Basketball got a steal. Mills is an electric athlete with a great shot. Within 22 feet, Mills was good money nearly every time he released the ball against Coppell. His 20 point game looked like a pull-up jumper clinic from every spot on the floor.
Jale Williams Jale Williams 6'4" | SG Dallas Carter | 2020 TX
A 6-4 guard with all the fast twitch movement you could possibly ask for catches heat with ease. In the 4A playoffs Williams sank 5 threes in the first quarter. He picked apart Celina’s zone and racked midrange shots against similar sized opponents. With a guy this quick and athletic the next level ready jumpshot seals a near complete offensive game.
