Class 5A may be slightly down this season, and most people are probably betting on Del City or Carl Albert taking home the Gold Ball after this upcoming weekend, but there's a team that may have something to say about that.

Last weekend I walked into Norman North to watch Shawnee and El Reno compete for the last spot in the State tournament. I'm not going to lie I didn't expect too much, but I was wrong. Shawnee was electrifying to watch, and it's not because of the 3-point shots or the high-flying dunks. It was their defense. It was the same defense that led them to be No. 4 in 5A behind two of the teams listed above.

Del City is the heavy favorite to win the class, and Carl Albert trails right behind them but if there's a team that can counter both of those team's superior offensive attacks, it's Shawnee who nobody saw coming.

The only question mark surrounding Shawnee and their title hopes is their lack of height to man both of the schools from Mid-Del. They're quick, but both of the opposing schools are quicker, which has to be concerning for the Indians.
