After watching many players perform during the high school season, you get a sense of who’s ready to emerge. In this article, we take a look at some players who were poised for breakout grassroots seasons.
Jase Richardson 6’0 SG Vegas Elite 2024 – I can’t stop thinking about this kid’s performance on Made Hoops stop 3. Good IQ basketball player, that understands how to score. One of the things I was looking for was how he performed in regional big games. I saw some of it in the finals against PG elite and was hoping to see him in more competition like that this grassroots season.
Noah Sherrard Noah Sherrard 5'11" | PG Silverado | 2021 State NV 6’0 SG Silverado 2021 (#29PHN 2021) – I don’t want Sherrad to get forgotten. He gets enough of that during his high school season. He’s a shooter that often goes overlooked. Sherrard is more than a one-trick pony however, he can also be a serviceable backup PG and is a willing defender. Was really looking forward to watching him strap on the circuit.
Damion Byrd Damion Byrd 5'10" | PG Silverado | 2022 State NV 5’11 PG OTG 2022 (#7PHN 2022) (featured image) – I have been waiting to watch Byrd for a while. High IQ player that understands how to lead a team. Word on the street is he’s improved his jump shot and has been working tirelessly since the end of the high school season.
Aaron Price Aaron Price 6'7" | PF Liberty | 2022 State NV 6’5 PF Liberty 2022 (#13PHN 2022) – Price didn’t play at all this season. I saw him some during the fall and his athletic ability instantly stood out. I just want to see him play in a full game. I watched him in a scrimmage against Bishop Gorman before he was declared ineligible, and you could argue that on a court full of college prospects he was as good as anyone.
Jacques Williams Jr 5’10 PG Arbor View 2022 (#40PHN 2022) – I actually saw a lot of Williams this winter. He was a JV stud for Arbor View. I was interested in seeing if he could carry over his dominant season into the grassroots season. I’ve never actually seen him have a bad game and in fact every game that I’ve watched he was the best player on the floor. If he could have carried that over to this summer, then his stock would rise.
