There were a few upsets but also teams that separated themselves from the pack and head into the Great 8 with momentum. Here are some of the standouts that led their team to victory in the 4A Sweet 16.
Taylor Harris Taylor Harris 6'2" | CG Pueblo West | 2020 State CO – Pueblo West
In the Cyclones 58-54 road victory over Harrison to advance to the Great 8, it took grit, focus, and execution for Pueblo West to persevere, and that is precisely what they did as they saved their best quarter in the 4th. The player that stood out in the game is the Cyclones leading scorer on the year, Taylor Harris Taylor Harris 6'2" | CG Pueblo West | 2020 State CO . Harris finished with 14 points and made some game-winning plays down the stretch. He found other players, he gave all-out effort, and he hit some tough shots to ensure the victory. Harris is a versatile playmaker that does what is asked of him, and his play pushed Pueblo West to the next round.
Jimmy Wardle – Pueblo West
Another player that stood out in the Pueblo West vs. Harrison game was sharpshooter Jimmy Wardle. Wardle has proved himself to be one of the better shooters in all of 4A as he shoots the 3-ball at a high rate and also can get inside and score when needed. He is Pueblo West’s second-leading scorer on the team and a reliable source of scoring as well as energy as he is a hard worker that gets after it. He pushes himself on the defensive end and is a great on-ball defender that is also great as a help-side defender that the Cyclones feed off of. He finished with 14 points in their close win and will be relied on profoundly moving forward.
Nahsyah Bolar Nahsyah Bolar 6'7" | SF Northfield | 2020 State CO – Northfield
Nahsyah Bolar Nahsyah Bolar 6'7" | SF Northfield | 2020 State CO continued his senior year domination. At this point, unsure how he remains unsigned as he is a player that can surely help a school. Bolar has the strength and size and is a relentless rebounder that also protects the rim. Against Erie, he put it all together yet again. Bolar finished with a game-high 21 points in the game on 8-10 shooting and also got to the FT line where he finished 5-6 from the field. He also had 17 rebounds in the game and had two blocks, which sets him up for one of the best performances on the day.
Eddie Kurjak – Longmont
Kurjak is a player that has upped his game and stood out as of late. The junior big man had himself another solid outing to help the Trojans advance. He had 20 points in the game on 9-15 shooting from the field, made both FTs that he took, and dominated the game down low. Not only was Kurjak scoring with ease, but he grabbed 13 rebounds in the game, with five of them being offensive. Longmont won 54-35, and Kurjak led the way.
Ty Foster Ty Foster 6'1" | PG Lincoln | 2020 State CO – Lincoln
There is composure and keeping your cool in a hostile environment that is hundreds of miles away from your home court, and there is what Ty Foster Ty Foster 6'1" | PG Lincoln | 2020 State CO did. Foster put together another complete game in the Lancers 43-32 win over Montrose to advance to the Great 8. He broke down the defense for easy baskets at the rim, he quickly scanned the defense and looked at what they were giving him, and he also took care of the ball. The thing with Foster is he never seems rattled. Foster finished with 17 points in the game and showed why he is regarded as one of the top guards in the state. Plenty of what he does goes beyond the scoreboard, but he impacts the game in various ways.
