Westover got off to a quick start, jumping out to an early double digit lead, but Clayton would respond and cut the lead down. However Westover would make a final push in the 4th quarter that would seal the deal for Westover 63-54.
D’Marco Dunn D’Marco Dunn 6'4" | CG Westover | 2021 State #75 Nation NC is the best SG in NC! Time and time again this season we have seen him take over games when his team needed and this matchup was no different. He would lead all scorers with 29 Points on the night and once again did a great job of picking his spots on the court to make plays. There’s no doubt about it, he’s a High Major talent that will do great things on the next level as well.
BJ Freeman provided a spark in the 2nd half! He was pretty quiet in the first half but turned it up late in the game when his team needed him too. He can knock down the outside shot but also does a nice job of going inside and was very active rebounding the ball.
Traymond Willis-Shaw Traymond Willis-Shaw 6'7" | PF Westover | 2020 State NC is a talented Stretch Forward: It seems that as the season has gone on, he’s gotten better and is playing with more confidence. Where he’s really effective is at the high post knocking down the midrange shot , or finishing plays above the rim when getting out into transition.
Clayton PG Mason Rusch will be a solid PG at the next level! We love the combination of his strength and aggression that he constantly uses to attack defenses. He kept his foot on the gas to make plays and displayed his ability to knock down shots from deeper than college range.
Westover Senior Forward Marvin Barnes is a player that colleges that won’t mind a project player should give a look. You can’t teach his height or wingspan and he has shown flashes of how good he can be over the season.
Clayton HS Senior Wing Jo’Quan Ross stepped in and made some plays for Clayton, knocking down threes and getting after it on the defensive end. JUCOs that are looking for a player that can come in and provide some contribution from the wing spot will want to give him a look.
