There is a lot of individual talent in all grades that will be on display at all three venues and here’s a look at the top players to watch out for.
3A
George Sadi George Sadi 5'9" | CG De La Salle North | 2020 State OR (2020 De La Salle North) – The returning state 3A player of the year is ready to lead another run to the title with a different supporting cast. The 5-foot-9 guard is one of the most explosive athletes in the class and has really been carrying the offensive load for the Knights this season. He’s quick to the basket, can finish at the rim, but can also knock down the three.
Charles Wilmot (2021 Oregon Episcopal) – Wilmot is one of the best shooters in 3A with a fairly quick release and deep range. The 6-foot guard is a tremendous catch-and-shoot performer but also moves well without the ball coming off of screens. He’s getting better with his play off of the bounce and is could be the top guy leading OES during their playoff run.
Josh Wart Josh Wart 6'6" | PF Amity | 2021 State OR (2021 Amity) – Wart is as tough as matchup for any team in 3A. At 6-foot-6 and built already like a college tight end, he’s a load to handle in the paint but he’s also good vertically as well as he finishes play above the rim. The lefty runs the floor well, is improving as an outside shooter, and is an outstanding rebounder.
Trevahn Foster (2020 St. Mary’s Medford) – Foster’s future will be in football as he signed with Western Oregon. But the 6-foot-7 post is an outstanding athlete and has really been on a tear as of late, leading St. Mary’s to a league title while registering some incredible statistical performances including a triple-double. He’s a shot-blocking machine and is tough to handle inside.
2A
Connor Marchant (2020 Toledo) – Toledo has their high-octane offense and Marchant is at its head. The 6-foot senior is a great athlete, can really push the pace, and is a tremendous outside shooter – the lefty currently holds the state’s all-time record in three-point field goals made. He also has scored well over 2000 career points.
Payton Richardson Payton Richardson 6'3" | SF Western Christian | 2020 State OR (2020 Western Christian) – The Seattle Pacific signee has put together another 2A Player of the Year type of season for Western Christian. The 6-foot-3 wing has been dominant in the Pioneers fast-paced style and has been a marauder on defense heading the full court press. It wouldn’t be surprising if he’s one of the state’s leaders in dunks as he is seemingly always in transition.
Alex Nicoli Alex Nicoli 6'1" | CG Western Christian | 2020 State OR (2020 Western Christian) – Another sharp-shooting senior is Nicoli who registered his 300th made three-point shot late in the year. The 6-foot guard is near automatic when left open but also has the ability to knock down shots on the move or when closely guarded.
Mo Hartwich Mo Hartwich 7'0" | C Portland Christian | 2021 State OR (2021 Columbia Christian) – The 7-footer is an ace in the hole for the Knights as he provides something other teams don’t have an abundance of – size. The junior continues to progress as a player, getting stronger and more confident down low offensively and is for sure a factor on defense.
1A
Matt Eidler Matt Eidler 6'5" | SF Trinity Lutheran | 2020 State OR (2020 Trinity Lutheran) – The 6-foot-5 senior is an inside-outside force with his size and ability to shoot the ball. Eidler has scored over 2000 career points and also ranks high on the state’s all-time lists in three-point field goals made. He’s a do-it-all type of player at the 1A level and is hoping to take Trinity Lutheran to the title.
