With these, we want to highlight 3 players who are similar in class and position. Get some time to dive into some quick thoughts, stat breakdowns, and film. Today, we are looking at 2023 Shooting Guards in Blake Herdes Blake Herdes 6'3" | SG Evansville Mater Dei | 2023 State IN , Nick Thompson Nick Thompson 6'2" | SG Bishop Luers | 2023 State IN , and Peyton Bledsoe Peyton Bledsoe 6'4" | SF Loogootee | 2023 State IN .

Evansville Mater Dei | 2023

IN
– 6’2 SG 2023 – Evansville Central (IN)
Stats: 8.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.1 apg
Thoughts: Herdes is a big guard with a great amount of toughness to his game.He has a ton of energy and defensively seems to get it from an early age. Has a solid pull-up game and is pretty good at creating his own shot off the dribble. Really makes defenders pay if given enough room to get a shot off. He handles himself well on defense and can guard either the PG, SG, and even some SFs. Likely to grow a bit and could be a high-end scoring option. Expect him to add at least an extra 5 points to his scoring average next season.

Bishop Luers | 2023
State
IN
– 6’1 SG 2023 – Bishop Luers (IN)
Stats: 5.9 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.2 apg
Thoughts: Thompson is one of the more athletic guards in the 2023 class. He has a very aggressive approach on offense and loves to attack the basket. Does not really show off a jump shot all that much so that will be an interesting to see if he adds that to his game in the next few years. His ball handling is good so that complements his attack mode well. Once he develops and starts implementing a jumper into his game, he is going to open up a ton more opportunities to score. Tough player that should get better every year.

Loogootee | 2023
State
IN
– 6’3 SG 2023 – Loogootee (IN)
Stats: 10.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.6 apg
Thoughts: Bledsoe has a ton of shooting skill and has the body of an upperclassman already. Big guard that can really let it fly and get hot at any minute. Left-handed shooter and matches up pretty well against almost any position. While he may be better suited as a shooter, he can drive to the rim at a solid rate. Not the quickest guard so might need to work on his speed and maybe tone his body up some more. Was a varsity starter all year and averaged double figures. That is a pretty impressive stat for a freshman prospect. Bledsoe could be on track to take a big step forward next season.
