2021 Rankings: Crafty Playmakers
No. 15 – Walter Clayton Walter Clayton 6'3" | PG Bartow | 2021 State #218 Nation FL is the top blowup candidate in perhaps the entire 2021 class here in Florida. The 6’3″ guard is a true lead dog with a ton of speed, strength and determination. He can pass with the best of them, drive when he needs to and hit key jumpers. Holding a Stetson offer, Clayton moved from Lake Wales to Bartow and stopped playing both football and basketball to focus on hoops and it clearly paid dividends in his game on the court. Bartow won its fifth state title and first since 2010 and having Clayton at the helm brought them there. Division I schools will be lining up for him this summer when we get past the COVID-19 issue.
No. 23 – Justin Neely Justin Neely 6'5" | CG West Oaks | 2021 State FL – had quite a season for Miami High. The 6’5″ combo guard averaged 27.2 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 6.4 APG and 2.4 SPG for the Stingarees. Neely had a top scoring moment for the state when he compiled a 60-point, 25-rebound and 12-assist performance in a double overtime win over Coral Park. He battles on the boards, cleans up misses and can shoot and drive with the best of them. Schools that have shown interest in Neely so far are Jacksonville, Mercer, Duquesne, Florida Gulf Coast, FAU, Yale, Princeton, Baylor and Georgetown.
No. 33 – Javian McCollum Javian McCollum 6'0" | PG Ft. Myers | 2021 State FL is a point guard who exudes energy and fun. The 6′ guard has made strides each and every season at Fort Myers, going from a gifted 3-point shooter as a freshman to a scorer as a sophomore to now a bonafide playmaker and driver. Averaging 20.7 PPG this season, McCollum still leans on his 3-pointer (47 percent) but he can do plenty more which is evident from his 26.4 PPG average in five playoff games including back to back 30-point games in wins over Palmetto and St. Pete. McCollum has an offer out from Division II Missouri Baptist and interest from New Orleans, FAU, FGCU, Wofford, William & Mary, Columbia and Princeton.
No. 50 – Reggie Luis Reggie Luis 6'5" | CG Colombus | 2021 State FL is a combo guard with a ton of standalone potential. Transferring from Miramar to Colombus, the 6’5″ athlete took on a major role with the Explorers. He averaged 14.9 PPG and 8.8 RPG and proved himself with some monster games: 32 points vs. Miami Beach, 31 points vs. Schoolhouse Prep and 26 points vs. Miami High. A board getter and attacker, his jumper is improving as he tacks on muscle and more confidence. Luis is drawing mid-major interest and a prospect who will continue to take his game to the next level.
No. 51 – Alvin Tumblin Alvin Tumblin 6'6" | SF Santa Fe Catholic | 2021 State FL has locked in as of late. Averaging 12.5 PPG and 17.5 PPG over his first two varsity seasons, Tumblin transcended his game further, averaging 20.5 PPG, 11.7 RPG and 4.1 RPG as a junior. From Jan. 10 to Jan. 25, he had a stretch of seven straight 20 point outings, including two 29-point showings. Tumblin put up a fight with a season high 32 points along with 17 rebounds and five blocks in a Jan. 30 win over Auburndale. The kid is rangy and really versatile good near the cup. Tumblin is drawing interest from Mercer, Kansas State, FGCU, UNF, Virginia Tech, Bethune Cookman, Stetson and Georgia Southern
No. 61 – Donovan Draper Donovan Draper 6'6" | PF Forrest Hill | 2021 State FL really flashed this season for state semifinalist Forest Hill. The 6’6″ forward averaged 14.4 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 3.5 APG and 3.5 SPG. He had 16 double doubles including a 31-point, 12-rebound, eight-assist and seven-steal game in a win over Park Vista. Draper also posted two triple doubles in wins over Coconut Creek (18 points, 17 rebounds & 12 assists) and Taravella (15 points, 10 rebounds & 10 steals). He is a leaper, someone who works endlessly on the boards and loves to push the cause in transition. Draper’s a Division I talent with a ton of untapped potential who has drawn interest from IUPUI and Holy Cross thus far.
