Ryan Kiachian Ryan Kiachian 6'9" | PF Bellarmine | 2021 State CA-N 6’9, Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose CA)
He needs to continue to add muscle to his frame. He has a good understanding of the game, and an improving skill set. He has a nice jumper in the key, and a jump hook he’s improved. He’s been known to step out and hit a 3 on occasion. He’s a good screener and passes well to cutters from the high post. He’s not afraid to mix it up inside, he’ll rebound and make good outlets, he’ll run his lanes. He changes shots in the paint. His average this season was 10.7 ppg, 5 rebs.
Demarshay Johnson Demarshay Johnson 6'9" | C Salesian | 2021 State CA-N 6’9, Salesian College Prep (Richmond Ca)
Right now he’s a decent rim protector and defender. He gets up and down the floor at a good pace. He’s still kind of raw, but towards the middle part of the season I did see improved footwork and scoring around the basket. He’s athletic and loves to run for dunks. He’ll have to continue to develop his offensive skills in the post area.
Arrish Bhandal Arrish Bhandal 6'9" | C Archbishop Mitty | 2021 State CA-N 6’9, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose CA)
He’s more of a traditional center, with good size to take up space inside. He’s more deliberate when trying to score in the paint, but he seems more comfortable when he sets his feet and goes up off two. He has good hands, and kicks it out well from the post. He does an okay job getting rebounds and putbacks. He keeps the ball up high and has good vision.
Robert Vaihola Robert Vaihola 6'7" | PF Archbishop Riordan | 2021 State CA-N 6’7, Archbishop Riordan, (San Francisco Ca)
I was really looking forward to seeing Vaihola this grassroots season. He’s strong, he has good hands to receive the ball, and a soft touch in and around the post area. He’s intuned with his passer moving toward the rim for a possible dump off, or offensive rebound. He’s more of a power forward right now. He works well coming from the baseline, he can hit the short jumper. He has a good low base to keep bigger players from controlling him on the block.
JT Byrne JT Byrne 6'7" | PF Carmel | 2021 State CA-N 6’7, Carmel (Carmel CA)
Two sport player (football) Byrne is a big physical hustle guy, who plays hard when he’s on the court. He’s active and works to keep others his size from scoring inside. He seals well, sets good high screens. Byrne’s is a decent player from the free throw area and in. He has improved his jumper in the key, and he gets putbacks. He averaged 21.5 ppg, 8.4 rebounds.
D’ aunte Johnson, Moreau Catholic (Hayward CA)
Not sure if he’ll end up in the post, but at 6’7 and a long wingspan, he’ll do a good job defensively guarding the area. He’s a good rebounder and shot blocker. He gets a good number of putbacks. His offensive skills need to improve, but the lefty has good lift, and a nice left handed jump hook he uses to score, but needs more.
