Leading the Wolverines to a semifinal-victory, Sullivan led Garber past Kiowa. Most notably, he shot a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line, a rare feat. He is an outstanding shooter who, even when he cannot get buckets to fall, finds a way to help in other areas by creating spacing, rebounding and passing. Sullivan said after the win he is prepared to compete for a Gold Ball on Saturday.
T.J. Bennett | 2021 PG | Garber
The junior floor-general led the Wolverines in scoring Friday in a 15-point performance, including 6-of-11 shooting from the field to lift Garber. Bennett, an athletic scorer, took the ball to the rim, beat stiff defenders on the dribble and facilitated the ball well, helping his teammates to get buckets while pulling off a catalog of his own.
Julian Kamrud | 2020 PF | Kiowa
Despite leaving empty-handed, there is certainly much to be said for Kamrud and his stellar play for the Cowboys; he led Kiowa in scoring with 15-points, shooting 5-of-12 from the field against a tough Garber defense.
Jace Edelen | 2020 SG | Arapaho-Butler
The performer of the day with Edelen, who opened the match on a personal 9-0 run before finishing the day with 21 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 75-percent shooting from beyond the arch. Once defenders collapsed on him, rather than forcing difficult shots of little consequence, Edelen differed to teammates to allow others to get involved in scoring.
Brett Griffith | 2021 PG | Arapaho-Butler
Griffith was the left-hook to follow Edelen’s electric first half, notching 15 points on a pair of 3-pointers and 7-of-8 shooting from the free-throw line. He helped his fellow Indians by sharing the ball — thanks to his unprecedented floor vision — and all-around athletic skill, which he showed off with a behind-the-back pass, numerous drives and kick-outs.
Connor Clayton | 2022 PG | Stuart
Clayton, facing a stout deficit behind the outstanding Arapaho-Butler attack, took matters into his own hands in the second-half. He finished the game 4-of-7 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and a 100-percent success rate at the free-throw line to keep the Hornets’ hopes strong — even down to the buzzer. His sophomore season capped off with a 19-point game.
