The stakes were high with the winner moving onto a seeding game for District playoffs and the loser going home with a finished season. A somewhat sloppy game that saw Issaquah start to pull away by double digits in the fourth quarter took a quick turn that left Issaquah speechless and Woodinville in all out celebration.
Play(er) of the Game:
2020 5’9 PG Cage Schenck‘s game-winner at the buzzer broke the hearts of Issaquah supporters and left Woodinville’s crowd rocking. The moment was captured here and posted on social media: https://twitter.com/christyaschenck/status/1226051668980068353?s=21
Cage Schenck led Woodinville with 19 points and his last two were the most important of the contest. With a tied game, Woodinville deflected and stole a pass from Issaquah, which resulted in Schenck gaining possession and dribble weaving down the court before elevating for a 15 foot runner that swished right in at the buzzer. Woodinville fans would then storm the court instantly. Throughout the game, the Eastern Washington football commit was aggressive and able to get to his spots to get his shot off or create plays for others.
Another football standout on the hardwood for Woodinville:
2020 6’3 G Blake Glessner is a Montana football commit that impressed on the court. He has an above average skill set and excels as a slasher and finisher from the wing position. He has enough athleticism to create second chance and put back opportunities. Glessner plays with a great motor and came through with 18 points for the winning team.
New Prospect:
Issaquah played with a lot of energy and were mentally locked in for about 27 of the 32 minutes, but had an epid collapse in the last few minutes. One of the couple bright spots in the future of their program is 2021 6’9 PF Danny Howe. He is not currently in our rankings, but will be in the next update. Howe has steadily grown over time and his frame is still filling out, but I loved his ability to impact the game as a pick and pop threat. Every time Howe shot the three ball I felt like there was a good chance that it was going to fall, because he has smooth shooting form and does not hesitate when shooting. Strength will need to be added and there is a lot of room for growth on the low block, but Howe is a solid small college prospect at this stage with more time to grow and develop.
Issaquah’s Charlie Dietiker Adding to His Game:
2021 6’5 F Charlie Dietiker has always been strong and physical inside the paint, but I was pleasantly surprised to see him now shooting and making the three pointer with some confidence. Dietiker is consistently a double digit rebounder and can finish inside the paint with some power, but the three point shot will not only open up his game, but also some potential college options in due time.
