Quite a few players are working to put themselves in position to make a strong final playoff run. Also there have been some players picking up offers this week that we would like to take a look at.
Lejeune HS Junior Guard Jaylon Armstrong: This young man has been flat out balling over the past few weeks. He dropped 30 points and pulled down an amazing 20 rebounds in a win Tuesday night. Armstrong is simply a player that will not be outworked and brings max effort every time he steps on the floor.
Northwood Temple Senior Guard Jay Hickman picked up an offer Mars Hill university on Tuesday. Hickman is one of the better shooters in the area and could possibly be a nice pickup for Mars Hill to provide perimeter shooting.
Hoggard HS Junior Guard Brady Rankin led his team in scoring with 23 Points in a big win over Laney HS. Rankin has the ability to knock down three point shots at a high rate as well as making some plays above the rim in transition.
Westover HS Junior Guard D’Marco Dunn stock continues to rise as he picked up an offer from Vanderbilt University. He’s been tremendous this season averaging over 20 Points & 8 Rebounds per contest.
Pender HS has another prospect that you will want to keep an eye on in Sophomore Wing Jakwon Moore. Moore went for 23 Points and pulled down 8 board in a win for his team over Southwest Onslow. He plays the game with a nice motor and doesn’t back down from any type of challenge.
Kinston HS Guard Dontrez Styles continues to see a rise in his stock as he has played at a high level. Styles picked up an offer from Texas A&M and had UNC drop in to see him at a game recently. Styles can score the ball from all areas of the court as well mix it up inside the paint by using his strength.
Wilson Prep Junior Forward Eric Wynn put up big time numbers in their win over KIPP Pride. Wynn went for 28 Points and 16 Rebounds, dominating in the interior which is something that we have seen from him quite a bit over the years. You have to love the versatility he plays with at 6’9 and the work he’s done to get in better conditioning.
