Continue ReadingThe PIL finished out its league slate on Tuesday night and from all indications three teams will be making the post-season – Jefferson, Grant, and Cleveland, with the Warriors making it by nature of their win over Franklin on the conference’s final day of play. Here’s a quick look at the unsigned seniors from the PIL as some of them seek to finish out their high school careers with a few more wins and give college coaches a last look at their talents.
(players listed in order of their current PrepHoops Oregon rankings)
Erik Fraser (2020 Grant) – Ranked #17 – Solid all-around wing who has grown up as a shooter but has developed more of his all-around scoring ability. Emerged as the team’s leading scorer (16 ppg) as a senior and has put up some high scoring efforts. Has decent size and athleticism for a mid-level college two-guard at 6-foot-3. Currently holds an offer from OIT and has received recruiting interest from D-II programs.
Cobee Crawford (2020 Benson) – Ranked #22 – Tough combo guard that stepped into a leadership role as a senior (14 ppg). Is best at taking it to the basket or pulling up from mid-range, but has improved with his long range shooting. Plays with a high motor and competes at the defensive end. A bit undersized for a two at the college level but has improved with his point guard skills. Getting some D-II looks but could decide to head the JC route.
Tai Warner (2020 Grant) – Ranked #36 – Hard-nosed lead guard who can knock down shots from deep or take it strong to the hoop and finish through contact. Has been working on developing more of a pure point guard mentality. Really gets after it on the defensive end. Needed time to get re-adjusted to the American game after playing overseas in Thailand.
Emanuel Steward (2020 Grant) – Ranked #38 – Lanky wing with good length and athleticism. Was once purely a shooter but has developed more of his ability to attack and finish off the bounce. Has deep range and can get hot in an instant. Continues to grow and has yet to reach physical maturity. JC programs have shown plenty of interest and some D-II looks are emerging.
Jayoni Moore (2020 Roosevelt) – Ranked #52 – Offensive-minded guard that had a good senior season that saw him rank in the top 10 of 6A in the state in scoring (17 ppg). Likes to shoot the three but has the frame to create and finish off of the dribble. An underrated passer who can find open teammates. Has an offer from Multnomah and is getting JC interest.
Cayden Wagner (2020 Franklin) – Ranked #69 – Lanky wing that has slowly progressed into a consistent scoring threat. Shoots it well from the perimeter but can also create off the bounce a bit and has sneaky athleticism that helps him scoring near the rim. Lean frame that should be able to add on strength.
Austyn Shipps (2020 Cleveland) – Ranked #71 – Solid all-around guard who can many different things. Good ball-handler and can run the point but also has scoring ability at all three levels. Plays fairly hard and with a bit of an edge, which he uses to his advantage. Has been a big part of Cleveland’s resurgence to qualify for the playoffs this season. Mainly JC interest so far for the 3.1 GPA student.
