All off the board!
In point guards alone, Ohio has four Division I commits, seven set to play on scholarship at D-II or NAIA programs, three Division IIIs, and four football signees.
But there are still point guards prospects available for every level of college basketball. Here’s all of them on that are on the Prep Hoops Ohio radar:
Top 25 Overall
CJ Anthony | 6-0 | Harvest Prep
offers: Air Force, Milwaukee, Robert Morris, Toledo, Towson, Union
Anthony — Central Ohio’s leading all-time scorer, state champion, and two-time First Team All-Ohioan — is a fierce competitor with a blue-collar mentality and well-rounded offensive game. I doubt anyone in the senior class has taken more charges than Anthony. Shoots well with his feet set. Operates comfortably in transition or half-court. Strong body that he uses to play with balance in the lane.
Top 50 Overall
Connor O’Toole | 6-2 | Gilmour Academy
offers: Army West Point, Lake Erie, Walsh
O’Toole, a low-major/Division II tweener, is a high-IQ shooter who plays an efficient brand of basketball. Limits dribbles. The best shooter on this list. Plays with his head up and shows good vision.
Quentin Richardson | 5-11 | Holy Name
offers: Fairmont State, Notre Dame (OH), Urbana
Dynamic playmaker with a knockdown jump shot. Quick. Thrives in the open floor. Makes beautiful passes late, even delivering assists while underneath the rim. Disruptive on help-side because of his ability to show and recover.
Chase Toppin | 6-1 | St. Ignatius
offers: Fairmont State, Lake Erie, Notre Dame (OH), St. Thomas (FL)
One of the best available slashing point guards, if not the best. St. Thomas offered Tuesday. Uncanny finishing ability. Doesn’t force the issue. Capable shooter but seldom settles for an outside jumper. Impactful defender because of his quickness and physical style of play.
Jake Younkin | 6-2 | CHCA
offers: Fairmont State
Knockdown shooter with plus size and good decision-making ability. Sees the floor well. Defends multiple spots on the perimeter. Operates best in the halfcourt. Plus rebounder. Fiery competitor.
Trevell Adams | 5-10 | Columbus South
offers: LeMoyne-Owen, Saint Leo
Athletic slasher with a lot of burst at the rim. While explosive, Adams also plays with patience and knows how to execute in the halfcourt. Shooting is his hole, but he makes up for it by being an impactful defender and elite athlete.
Ketaan Wyatt | 6-3 | Rogers
Wyatt has become an elite defender with a wide-stance and quick feet. Great size. Makes plays for others as a drive-and-kick player, often delivering assists to spot-up shooters. Patient. When off the ball, he spaces the floor with his catch-and-shoot prowess.
Top 100 Overall
Tahj Staveskie | 6-0 | Sandusky
Northern Ohio is buzzing about Tahj Staveskie, who we will see next Saturday when Sandusky welcomes Rogers.
Dynamic offensive creator with an elite skill-set and the ability to shoot it from distance. Shoots it well off the dribble. Creative touch shots when he attacks. Breaks down defenders with his handle.
Deairius Randle-Barker | 6-0 | Princeton
offers: Malone, Thomas More, Cumberlands, Pikeville
Well-rounded lead guard who doesn’t have a distinct hole in his game. Plus athlete. Shoots it well from the mid-range or from distance at a stand-still. Stays in front on defense.
Zachary Szul | 6-3 | Anthony Wayne
Big combo guard and a late-bloomer. Szul is an improved shooter who has been converting shots at a high-clip this season. His best offensive tool is driving for finishes in the shallow mid-range, though. Gets to the free throw line. High academic. Scholarship-level player, in our opinion.
Julian Mackey | 6-3 | Lakota West
offers: Thomas More
Slippery ball-handler who can score it from all levels of the floor. Aggressive score-first player. Lanky and thin but doesn’t have an issue penetrating because of his skill.
Tevin Jackson | 5-8 | Cleveland Central Catholic
offers: Siena Heights
Passing savant. Jackson, despite lacking in the size department, has control over the floor and sees passing windows that others do not. Jackson is patient but can push the break if he sees an opportunity. Very quick defender.
Trevon Ellis | 6-3 | Stivers
offers: Albany State
Thick combo-guard who is effective in the paint as a scorer and passer. Endured a poorly-timed knee injury before his 17U summer.
Chris Herbort | 6-2 | Beavercreek
Strong combo guard who puts pressure on the defense with his off-the-dribble shooting ability. Plays hard. Looks to thread the needle and make plays as a passer. Competitor.
Isaiah Ingol | 5-11 | St. Vincent-St. Mary
High-IQ pass-first guard and a sneaky athlete around the rim. Extremely sound defender who stays in front of quick guards and is willing to take charges. Great shot selection. Long. Shooting is his only obvious hole, the only reason we can think of as to why Ingol doesn’t have several scholarship offers.
Sleepers
Jack Santa Emma | 5-11 | Alder
High-IQ playmaker who plays with good balance/body control. Doesn’t make many mistakes. Plays with alertness on both ends.
TaVaz Lawler-Showers | 5-11 | Start
Dynamic scorer in the open floor. Lefty with quickness and shooting ability.
Cali Davis | 6-1 | Africentric
offers: Wilberforce
Thrives in transition. Plus rebounder who likes to get it and go coast-to-coast. Can score or distribute on the break. Provides outside shooting when the game slows down.
Brian Collier | 6-0 | Grandview Heights
High-level shooter who uses the threat from distance to set-up the rest of his game. Handles with pace.
Zavian Ricks | 5-10 | Fairfield
offers: Indiana Tech
Slasher who scores and makes plays for others while attacking the basket.
Cam Coomer | 6-2 | Wilmington
Smooth, quick slasher with good size and athleticism. Good side-to-side quickness.
Adrian Michael | 5-10 | Start
High-motor, gutsy competitor with a high-IQ and outside shooting ability. Leads by example and is willing to do the “little things,” such as taking charges.
Nate Griggs | 5-10 | Delaware Hayes
Slippery ball-handler that limits mistakes and penetrates with changes of speed. Capable shooter who has uncanny finishing ability for his size and athleticism.
Dan Lee | 6-1 | Jerome
Drive-and-kick playmaker who finds shooters. Plus shooter. High academic.
Kobe Righter | 5-11 | Columbus DeSales
Crafty shot creator with an impressive skill-set. Good court sense.
Steven Gentry Jr. | 6-0 | Deer Park
Quick-twitch athlete with some pop off the floor. Pressures other ball-handlers and uses his quick hands to cause steals.
Jashun Cobb | 5-11 | Benedictine
Long, athletic frame. Cobb is best on the defensive side of the floor, where he can defend both guard spots. Scores mostly at the rim.
Eric Buckner Jr. | 5-10 | Benedictine
Sound skill-set. Distributor.
Yousef Saleh | 6-0 | Beavercreek
High-motor competitor who plays a confrontational brand of defense and likes to attack the basket. Acrobatic finisher. Quick feet.
Manny Hill | 5-10 | Cleveland Heights
offers: Notre Dame (OH)
Dynamic, skilled scorer. Although undersized, Hill gets to his spots and converts contested shots extremely impressively. Offensive-oriented.
Edward Wright | 6-0 | Elyria Catholic
Strong-bodied slasher that can finish touch shots in the mid-range and get all the way to the basket. Good scorer.
Tre Beard | 5-11 | Chillicothe
Distributor. Team player that moves the ball but can step up and hit a shot if left open. Plays hard on both ends. Very solid.
Cameron Evans | 5-11 | Zane Trace
Thick slasher with good body control and finishing ability. Doesn’t look to be flashy, rather score efficiently.
Domenic Farley | 5-10 | Briggs
Fast drive-and-kick player who can penetrate regularly.
Marquis Moore | 6-1 | Hamilton Township
Compact guard with a strong body. Solid skill-set and he sees the floor well.
Mitch Heilman | 6-0 | Ashland
Shot-maker who can provide floor spacing off the ball and initiate plays without turning it over.
Derrick Anderson | 5-11 | Boardman
Anderson is having a huge senior year at Boardman. Scores it by getting down-hill and makes plays for others when the defense collapses. Quick feet.
Travis Easterly | 6-2 | Chaney
Very strong kid with good size. Uses his size and footwork to score at the cup, even if he needs to absorb contact while doing so.
Sean Menker | 6-1 | Chaminade Julienne
Knockdown shooter who uses pump fakes to penetrate before kicking. Sound, efficient player.
Julian Binford | 5-7 | Eastmoor Academy
Speedy transition player who can leak-out for quick buckets and disrupt by getting into the opponent’s dribble.
Fred Wilkes | 6-0 | Upper Arlington
Shifty, skilled ball-handler who makes plays for others and has a nice mid-range pull-up.
Nate Staib | 5-9 | Gahanna
Reliable, pass-first guard who finds shooters and does a good job of entering the ball into the post. Credible shooter.
Grant Hartnett | 5-9 | Northview
Floor-spacer who likes to push pace and can knock-down shots in the halfcourt.
Brendan Lamb | 5-10 | Clinton Massie
Considered a better football prospect. Compact guard that is a good decision-maker, defender, and facilitator.
Scott Gronow | 6-0 | Louisville
Confident shooter who is effective spotting up or pulling up in rhythm.
Drew Paule | 5-11 | Perrysburg
Paule has a European shiftyness to his game. Excellent passer with a live dribble. Undersized but makes plays.
