Continue ReadingThe regular season is coming to an end in boys basketball and there is still some top talent that is not committed to play basketball next season. New Jersey is one of the most talented states for high school basketball in terms of Division I players and pros. That will not change this season as many of the top players are ready to make an impact at a big time school. These players still have not decided where they will be playing.
Cliff Omoruyi | 6’11 C | Roselle Catholic
Roselle Catholic is loaded with DI talent. They currently have three seniors signed for next season. Simeon Wilcher and Corey Floyd Jr. are underclassmen who already have racked up top level offers. Omoruyi is the lone player waiting to make a decision. He is currently the No. 2 ranked player in NJ’s Class of 2020. There is no doubt that he is the most dominant. Omoruyi is averaging 13.1 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 5.6 blocks per game this season. He has narrowed down his list to five; Rutgers, Auburn, Arizona State, Kentucky, and UConn. Omoruyi recently went on his second official visit to Arizona State and it is looking like he will be a Sun Devil soon.
Noah Farrakhan | 6’1 PG | The Patrick School
Farrakhan is one of the top 30 point guards in the nation. He is on a Celtics’ team that is among the top-three best in New Jersey and spent some time in the national rankings. Farrakhan transferred from IMG Academy to join The Patrick School. He is a complete point guard who can run an offense to perfection. Farrakhan has offers from big time schools like Florida, Maryland, Seton Hall, VCU, and Rutgers. It is unknown when he will make his final decision but some program is going to get a great player.
Anthony Thomas | 6’8 SF | Olympus Prep
One of the biggest mysteries this season is where Thomas will play next season. He is a transfer from The Patrick School who has worked his way up into the top 20 in New Jersey. Thomas has a lanky build. He is a freak athlete who can jump through the gym and handle the ball on the perimeter. Thomas has offers from Kansas State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Kentukcy among others. Noise on his recruiting service has been quiet so his announcement will come as a surprise.
Jacob Sussman | 6’5 SF | Lawrenceville School
Sussman is another prep player with an extremely high ceiling. He plays in a very competitive conference at Lawrenceville School which means he will be ready for the next level. Sussman is a big man who will make the perfect wing guard at the next level. He is a strong rebounder and excels shooting the ball. Sussman can be one of the biggest steals in New Jersey for a select school.
D.J. Watkins | 6’1 SG | Elizabeth
Watkins is having a monstrous season for one of the top teams in New Jersey. Phil Coicchio came over from Linde and has quickly turned Elizabeth into a powerhouse. Watkins is one of the reasons why. He is a dynamic scorer who thrives by getting to the basket. He uses his quickness to get by defenders and his strength to finish with contact and get to the free throw line. Watkins has not signed yet. He has picked up a few low level offers from schools like Rider, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Francis (PA). There is no doubt that Watkins will find success wherever he goes and could turn into a four year starter.
Myles Ruth | 6’1 PG | Don Bosco
Ruth spent time at Linden before transferring to Don Bosco. The talented point guard has turned a football powerhouse into a basketball school for the winter season. Ruth is a lightning quick guard who knows how to use his size as an advantage. He is a shifty player who can get by anyone on the perimeter. If they lay off, he is not afraid to shoot and knock down some three’s. Ruth has not signed a letter of intent yet and his recruitment is one of the most intriguing remaining in New Jersey.
