Top Players of the Week (Week 12)
The postseason is almost here. Teams from across the state are trying to squeeze out as many more district wins as possible.
And the best players from every team in the state are putting up numbers to try and make that happen.
Here are the top performers from this week:
Kyron Pleas, Olive Branch: Pleas led the ‘Quistors with 19 points in their 70-48 win over St. Benedict on Senior Night.
Brandon Wade, Olive Branch: Wade had 16 against the Eagles.
James Golden, PCA: Golden had 17 points, six steals, five rebounds and four assists in the 62-59 win over Melrose. Trevion Jackson had 11 points and five rebounds. DaMarion Jackson added 10 points and three rebounds. Christian Sweet provided nine points, six rebounds and five blocks.
Jamari Jackson had 25 points, seven assists, eight steals and four rebounds in a 90-60 win over Memphis School of Excellence. Golden finished with 21 points, nine assists, six rebounds and six steals. Amir Akins added 17 points on 5 of 6 shooting from 3-point range.
Johnathan Lawson, Wooddale: Lawson had 28 points and 15 rebounds in the Cardinals’ 84-60 win over Craigmont. He had 50 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Hamilton.
Patrick Smith Jr., Goodpasture: Smith had 21 points, seven steals, seven rebounds and six assists against Nashville Christian. He had 21 points, six steals, four assists and three rebounds in a 52-38 win over Clarksville Academy.
Jayden Williams, FACS: Williams led the Crusaders with 18 points in their 52-28 win over Sacred Heart. Kobe Wilkes finished with 15. Daniel Egbuniwe added 11.
Wilkes had 18 points in the 55-43 win over ECS. Williams added 13. TJ Thomas and Egbuniwe each finished with 10.
Gary Smith Jr., Columbia Academy: Smith had 23 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks in a win over Grace Christian. Paxton Powell added 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Tanner Ham had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists. Drew Butt provided 10 points and three rebounds.
JP Pegues, Hillsboro: Pegues had 21 points and nine assists in a 71-39 win over Hunters Lane. He had 25 points in the 75-36 win over Overton. Pegues made five 3s in the win.
Zion Swader, Siegel: Swader had 16 points, including the game-winning layup, in the Stars’ 56-54 win over Oakland. Jaylan Wetzel also had 16.
Brandon Maclin, Jackson South Side: Maclin led the Hawks with 18 points in the 86-59 win over McNairy Central on Senior Night. J.J. Johnson added 16.
Marqkis White, McNairy Central: White led the Bobcats with 16 points in their loss to Jackson South Side. Mason Latham and Omari Robinson each had 13.
Luke Moore, Fayette Academy: Moore had 34 points in the Vikings’ 85-80 double overtime win over Trinity Christian. Moore made the 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. Ryan Parks finished with 15 points and 18 rebounds. Andrew Payne added 11 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. Caleb Smith had 13, and Brett Culver provided 10.
Tyler Fitzpatrick, Fayette Ware: Fitzpatrick had 19 points, six rebounds and two steals in a win over Covington. Taki Walker had 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Phillip Horton had 19 points, six rebounds and four assists. Harmonta Griggs provided 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Fabian Nelson, Northpoint Christian: Nelson led the Trojans with 15 points in their 51-32 win over Westminster.
Chandler Jackson, Christian Brothers: Jackson had 14 points and six rebounds in the Purple Wave’s 50-46 loss to Briarcrest. Reese McMullen finished with 11. Sam Spence had nine points and three assists.
Jaylon Sanders, Collierville: Sanders had 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in the Dragons’ loss to Houston. He had 12 points, four rebounds and three assists in a win against Germantown.
K’Juan Banks, Cordova: Banks led the Wolfpack with 23 points in their 76-47 win over Kingsbury. Justin Borders added 17.
Rodney Mason II, Bartlett: Mason had 16 points and six rebounds in a 60-59 loss to Arlington. Jaylin Lucas had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Will Farris added 10.
Johnathan DeJurnett, Lausanne: DeJurnett had 21 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Harding Academy. The Evansville commit reached the 1,000-point mark this week. Moussa Cisse had 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks. Jalen Bo Montgomery added 17.
Bobby Parks, Harding Academy: Parks led the Lions with 41 points in their loss to Lausanne. He went 16 for 17 from the free throw line.
Marcellus Brigham Jr., Briarcrest: Brigham led the Saints with 23 points in their win over Christian Brothers. Kennedy Chandler added 16.
Jaylin Smith, Westwood: Smith led the Longhorns with 23 points in their 77-73 win over Hillcrest. Terrion Whiting had 18. Amarion Jones finished with 17. Damiel Briggs added 11.
Faizon Fields, Houston: Fields led the Mustangs with 17 points in their win over Collierville. Alden Applewhite finished with 16.
