6. Louis Fidler Louis Fidler 6'5" | SF Bellevue West | 2020 State NE – 6’4 – Class of 2020 (15.6 ppg)
Fidler has improved every year of his high school career and took another step forward this season. Louis is long and aggressive offensively. He scored 20 points or more in 5 games this season, including a 28 point performance against Omaha Benson in December. Even though Fidler is shooting 4 more shots per game than last season, his efficiency hasn’t gone down. He is a solid ball handler that can get to the basket and use his length to finish at 66% on his two point attempt this season. Fidler will be headed to Morningside College next year.
5. Ely Doble Ely Doble 6'4" | SF Gretna | 2020 State NE – 6’4 – Class of 2020 (16.9 ppg)
Doble is a forward that gets downhill and attacks the basket. He doesn’t waste time or movements, he attacks gaps on straight line drives and can finish through contact. The senior swingman can also play on the interior, catch passes in the mid-post, and use his size and speed to get to the rim. He is physical and gets to the free throw line over 6 times per game. Doble didn’t seem affected by Gretna’s move to a class A schedule this season and will be joining Louis Fidler Louis Fidler 6'5" | SF Bellevue West | 2020 State NE on the Morningside Mustangs next year.
4. Saint Thomas Saint Thomas 6'6" | CG Millard North | 2021 State NE – 6’6 – Class of 2021 (15.0 ppg)
Thomas is a having a breakout season and is affecting the game for his team in every aspect. After averaging 1 point per game as a sophomore, Saint worked his way into the starting small forward spot to start the season and has scored in double figures in 22 out of 24 games this season. Millard North is stacked with size, which allows Thomas to play his natural position on the wing. Thomas can stretch the floor with some shooting ability, but he is special on the interior. He hunts for contact and makes 66% of his two point attempts. Aside from scoring, he is a good distributor, rebounder, and physical defender. Thomas is averaging 4 assists, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.
3. Tyrece Griggs Tyrece Griggs 6'0" | SG Omaha South | 2020 State NE – 6’0 – Class of 2020 (16.4 ppg)
Griggs was a big part of Omaha South’s Class A State Championship in 2019, and it is clear he worked on his game coming into his senior year. Ty has been a great athlete and physical defender for years, but he shot less than 30% from three in his junior and sophomore seasons. In his senior season, Griggs has shot 46% from three and become a legitimate threat from deep. Pairing this with his athleticism, ability to defend, and ability to put the ball on the floor and finish in traffic has made him a top 3 wing in the Metro. Griggs is a multi sport athlete that recently announced he will be focusing on playing basketball in college. This makes him one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state.
2. Zach LaFave Zach LaFave 6'4" | SF Elkhorn South | 2020 State NE – 6’5 – Class of 2020 (18.6 ppg)
LaFave has stuffed the stat sheet all season and proven to be one of the best players in the state. He is a great athlete that can block and contest shots on defense and run the floor to finish in transition offensively. If left open, he can knock down a three, which he did at 39% this season, but he would rather attack the basket and use his length and vertical ability to finish at the rim. LaFave is adept at working the baseline and finding enough space to get to the interior of the defense. He has averaged 8 rebounds and finished this regular season with a 33 point and 14 rebound performance against Grand Island. LaFave will continue his basketball career at Wayne State College next year.
1. Wal Chuol Wal Chuol 6'4" | SG Omaha North | 2020 State NE – 6’4 – Class of 2020 (19.0 ppg)
Chuol is one of the most skilled players in the state, with next level size, athleticism, ball handling, and shooting ability. Wal is tough to stay in front of defensively. He has a great first step, can create space with the dribble, and has strength to knock defenders off his path. At the rim, Chuol can contort his body and floats at the rim to avoid charges and shot blockers. He has a wide range of creative and double clutch layups that he can finish with either hand. The senior wing is averaging 6.2 rebounds per game and can quickly get the ball up the floor himself after securing the board. He has deep three point range, makes over 2 threes per game at 40%, and creates three point shots for himself off the dribble. Chuol has plenty of interest from college programs but has not made a commitment yet.
