Continue ReadingThe CIF, NCS Boys Open Championships are back in action. Some of PH top prospects in the class of 2021 NorCal will be putting their talents on display in the semifinals, and a chance to play in the finals on the weekend. Here’s my list of top Jr’s who’ll be competing.
Marsalis Roberson 6’5 Guard Bishop O’Dowd.
Entering the season I was expecting Roberson to have a breakout season based on what I saw in the summer. He has lived up to those expectations. He’s become one of the top prospects in 2021 NorCal. He’s a long wiry athlete who can use both strength and finesse to get to the rim. His scoring at all three levels is steadily improving. He can rebound and push in transition. He seems like one of those players who looks forward to defending the other teams top player.
DeMarshay Johnson 6’9 Forward Salesian Prep.
His consistency has been steadily improving throughout the season. He’s one of the reasons why this team has a shot at winning a title. At 6’9 he gets up and down the floor pretty good. He does a solid job defending in the post. He has presence, shot blocking abilities, and can prevent good looks at the basket. His offense is improved around the rim but still needs to be more consistent on the finish.
Miles Daniels 6’1 Point Guard De La Salle
Daniels is a capable floor leader, he poses all the tools needed to be one. He’s a solid ball handler with playmaking abilities. He’s quick with the dribble drive penetration, and has good court vision to go with an effective mid range jumper. He’s a pass first type of point guard, but can step it up on the scoring end if need be.
Emmanuel Callas 6’5 G/F Campolindo
Callas has been a steady performer for Campo since he started playing in this program. He’s part of last years state championship team. He’s really expanded his game. Last year he was predominantly a post player. This season he’s more of an inside out guy, meaning he’ll go inside and be effective, yet spot up in the corner or wings to shoot his jumper. If Campo is going to extend it’s season Callas is going to have to do his part. Playing along side the Mahaney brothers has pushed him to be a better player in his own way. He’s averaging 14 pts, 7 rebs.
Jade Alexander 6’4 Wing St. Pats/ St. Vin.
When you have 6’10 Dishon Jackson playing center and a good outside shooter in Jalen Scott 6’1, things can open up for you. Alexander the strong athletic wing has taken full advantage of the situation and has carved out his own path to leading St. Pats/ St Vin. to a Division III Finals. He’s more than capable of carrying this team any given game. He’s done it in big games. He’s a rising 2021 prospect in NorCal.
