There has been a lot of Texas College Freshman hoopers who have had really good seasons so far. Today I will be highlighting below some of the young men who have been playing well for their D1,D2, D3, JUCO and NAIA universities this year.
SF Auston Chatman • Oklahoma Panhandle St.
The Houston native Auston Chatman is a skilled wing that can score in a multitude of ways and this season he’s been an instant impact player for his NAIA squad because of his size in versatility.
PG Isaiah Stevens • Colorado St.
Isaiah Stevens has been one of the best point guards in College basketball this season and has led his Colorado St. Rams to 18-9 overall record and third place in the Mountain West Conference. He leads his team in points and Assists.
SG Jahmius Ramsey • Texas Tech
Many people around the country wondered who would be the guy that would replace current NBA Rookie and former Texas Tech standout shooting guard Jarrett Culver. Freshman Jahmius Ramsey has been that dude for the Red Raiders on offense and on defense. Ramsey has also displayed that he is more than a strong athletic attacker and that he can shoot the ball from multiple spots on the floor. Ramsey’s play has been one of the reasons why Texas Tech is one of the best team’s in the Big 12 and also why he’s mentioned on multiple NBA Mock Draft Boards.
PF John Argue • Letourneau
Argue signed late to Letourneau University but the decision has been great for both him and the basketball program. The Houston Big Man is athletic, mobile, and a good finisher on the interior who is a solid rebounder. Argue is currently averaging double figures in his Freshman season.
SG Jordyn Adams • Austin Peay
Adams has been showing off his ability to score efficiently for Austin Peay this season and has been in multiple discussions as one of the best Freshman in the country. Adams Is averaging 17.2 ppg and 2.2 assists.
PG Maxwell Abmas • Oral Roberts
When Abmas committed to Oral Roberts I knew he would do well with them because of his ability to shoot and get to his spots off the dribble and feel for the game. However I am very surprised that he’s doing this well in only his first year. The Dallas Jesuit Alum is the third leading scorer on his Golden Eagles team with 14.2 PPG.
G Tahlik Chavez • Garden City
The Lethal shooter from the DFW Tahlik Chavez is taking the JUCO world by storm because of his elite shooting ability from virtually any spot around the three point line. He is also a skilled ballhandler who can play some minutes at the point guard spot if needed. He has picked up multiple offers from D1 universities but I believe he will pick up even more schools very soon!
PG Sahvir Wheeler • Georgia
The dynamic point guard Sahvhir Wheeler our Houston Texas is making a lot of good things happen for Georgia this year. He knows how to run a team at a high level and his electric playmaking ability helps create scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates.
Ty Caswell SG • Lubbock Christian
The skilled two guard Ty Caswell had multiple Division 1 offers but he chose to go to a Division 2 school in Lubbock Texas. The decision seems to be a great one because he is playing really good basketball and helping LCU pick up some big wins this season.
PG Tyrese Maxey • Kentucky
Tyrese Maxey is having a really good year for Kentucky so far and is playing like he deserves to be a first rounder and possibly a NBA lottery draft pick after this season. Maxey is a multi-level scoring guard who can score from the perimeter or knife through the lane and finish with good body control at the rim.
