Bay Port: Subtly, Bay Port has crept into the upper-tier of Northeast Wisconsin teams. This week, they made another major resume move, beating their main conference opponent, Ashwaubenon, by 11 points. This win comes after Bay Port lost to Ashwaubenon earlier in the year, which closes the gap between the two teams in the conference standings to just one game.
Milwaukee King: King established themselves as a legitimate team right out of the gates this season. Now — with 14-0 record coming after a win over Whitefish Bay — King is still that same, prominent program only with a little more of a resume to their name.
This week, there was also a new sense of grit. They won by just six points and scored below 60 points for only the second time this season. It wasn’t the blowout we’ve become accustomed to, but they proved that they don’t need a high-powered offense to defeat blue-chip teams.
Stratford: Stratford hasn’t lost yet this season — it’s a crime they’ve gotten such little attention. They’re an all-around roster that showed their full potential in this weekend’s Wisconsin-Minnesota Border Battle, defeating a talented Spring Grove team 60-39 along with a 27 point win over Newman Catholic.
Milwaukee Bay View: Bay View played a non-conference game this week against Monroe, upsetting them by six points. As a talented team with past pedigree, this could be enough to turn them around before the postseason, especially if they pick up another big win over Milwaukee King, Milwaukee Hamilton or Milwaukee Washington later in the season.
Honorable Mention:
Eau Claire North: North faced off against Rochester-Mayo in the Wisconsin-Minnesota Border Battle, a blockbuster game that pitted Dalton Banks against the Madsen twins. Banks impressed, going for over 40 points in the matchup. However North came up just short, losing by 13 points. They tested one of Minnesota’s top teams, though, which surely merits an Honorable Mention.
