Below are the semifinal scores and five standouts from last night’s action.
Cape Henry 60 Nansemond Suffolk 49
Norfolk Collegiate 66 Steward 57
2021 6’1 CJ Bailey | Cape Henry Collegiate
Bailey was the best player on the court for Cape Henry Friday night finishing with 21 points including three from deep. He also attacked the basket well where he would occasionally split a double team and adjust his shot well when bigger defenders were on him. He definitely is a prospect that can score at all levels with a solid athletic build.
2023 6’1 Kaleb Brown | Nansemond Suffolk
Brown is one of the better 2023 prospects in the Hampton Roads area and showed tonight why he has a bright future for the Saints. Already with good size and build, Brown is a strong attacking guard that can finish with contact well around the rim. He was really impressive with getting defenders to bite on his pump fake which allowed him to get a wide open shot. He was one of the main reasons why NSA found themselves with a chance in this game heading into the 4th quarter due to his 10 third quarter points. He finished with 19 points in the evening.
2020 6’2 Jordan Battle | Norfolk Collegiate
What more does this kid have to do to get more notice from colleges. The TCIS Player Of The Year set the tone early for Norfolk Collegiate by hitting his first three three pointers attempted in the opening four minutes of the games and dictated how the night was going to be for the Oaks. The unsigned senior finished with 24 points and showed he can rebound well for his position finishing with 8 boards and got his teammates involved with 4 assists.
2020 6’6 Tristan How | Norfolk Collegiate
Tristan’s breakout senior season continued Friday night as he was great from all over but especially from mid range and finishing around the rim. How is long and versatile which allows him to do a lot on both ends of the floor. It is also important to note how great of a motor Tristan plays with. The 2020 unsigned senior finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
2023 6’4 Curtis Blair | Steward
Another one of the talented young prospects in the state is Blair and his potential was shown on Friday night. Already with good size, Blair was active on both ends of the ball and deadly from midrange for Steward. Look for Brown to be one of the most sought out prospects in the state from the 2023 Virginia class.
