Last night in The Smith Center, Mount St. Joe and Archbishop Spalding faced off for a spot in the MIAA A Conference championship game this Sunday at Harford Community College. The young Cavaliers had been a team on a roll and had confidence coming into last night's match up after upsetting the top team from the black division, Gilman, on Tuesday evening. It was a closely contested game throughout three and a half quarters of play, but the Gaels ultimately pulled away for the 55-43 victory.

Here are some takeaways from the game:

Jason Edokpayi asserts his dominance

It's been a story line all season long. Senior forward Jason Edokpayi has been a force for the Gaels both in scoring, rebounding and blocking shots. The Fairfield commit once again had his fingerprints all over this one as he led the Gaels with 16 points. Spalding resorted to a 3-2 match up zone for a large portion of the game. As the Gaels swung the ball quickly, Edokpayi was establishing inside position on a smaller defender inside. When he was fed the ball, Edokpayi wasted no time in taking one or two power dribbles before rising up
